A Message From OSO President Debby Canter

“God wants us to delight in living His purpose for us, which is why our passion plays a huge part." --Paige Omartian

I hope you are making plans to attend our first in-person state convention since 2019 to be held April 14-16, 2023, at the Dublin Embassy Suites. In this issue, you will find a link to reserve a room and keep in mind that we need to meet a room block to keep costs down. There is also a need for presenters at the convention. It takes a lot of OSO members to put together a meaningful convention and we need your help and expertise. Please consider sharing your time and talents with other members across the state.

I had the pleasure of attending Alpha Omega and Beta Chi’s December meeting and sharing my passions for DKG and speaking about the Girls’ ROX program. Immediately following the meeting, I was able to talk with Yvette Kirksey about her interest in receiving ROX training and meeting her niece, Darnelle Clark. It was great to see old friends too - Mary Bumstead, Nancy Countryman, Linda Falatic, and Sharon Jarvis.  Thank you chapter presidents Sue Ellen Davis, Ann Fetrow, Wendy Spoerr, and Maranel Tallman for a delightful evening.

I enjoyed the hospitality of Kappa’s members at their December meeting in Kenton and the delicious home cooked meal prepared by two chapter members. A representative from the Chamber shared a video from the recent downtown Christmas parade and store windows all decked out for Christmas - quite impressive! It was great to visit with Past State President Donna Myers. Thanks to chapter presidents Kathy Lundy and Virginia Shellhouse for a most enjoyable morning.

I will be hosting a Zoom meeting for all members on January 23, 2023, at 7 pm. This is an opportunity to ask questions or get clarification on any chapter or state issues. The link is provided below as well as an eblast reminder.

If you haven’t already completed the Biennial Seminar survey, please take a few minutes to complete it. The link can be found below.

My wish for you is to have a happy, healthy, and prosperous 2023!

Ohio State Organization Wants Needs You!!!

Let it Snow… Let it Snow… Let it Snow!

As we approach the New Year of 2023, remember the Delta Kappa Gamma OSO ‘Member’ SHIP Shuttle is on a mission searching the Ohio galaxies, launching into new territories, seeking to gain sister snowflake members who have not been introduced to or needs to be reacquainted again with the Delta Kappa Gamma Society.

Make sure that you keep your eyes open, watching the clouds for DKG potential women educator members who are like unique one-of-a-kind snowflakes that might be floating down to your OSO Chapter from any skyward direction.

Make sure that your OSO Chapter is ready to welcome and receive them.

Ohio Chapters Helps Others in Need

Gamma Mu Collected Children's Books and Money

Gamma Mu collected children's books to be delivered to the Licking County Jobs and Family Services for foster children. We are also sending off checks--one to NNEMAP Food Pantry (Near Northside Material Assistance Program) and one to Letcher County Board of Education, Kentucky, to help buy books for their library that was damaged in the flooding this past fall.

Gamma Lambda and Phi Collect Donations

Gamma Lambda and Phi sisters gathered on December 10 for our Christmas brunch. Two Gamma Lambda sisters (Sue Chunn (L) and Michelle Worthing (R) entertained us with a program of Christmas music. We collected donations for OPEN M Ministries (Clinic and Christmas families), sold Don Drumm Christmas ornaments for the Blessings in a Backpack Program, raffled a Scholarship Gift Basket, and collected pop can tops for the Ronald McDonald House. It was an eventful meeting filled with good food and Christmas cheer!
