PIERCE COUNTY CONTINUES TO GROW
New population estimates from the U.S. Census shows Pierce County grew for a third year straight, making it a destination for families to live, grow, and play!

INNOVATIVE SOLUTION BY THE CITY COUNCIL ALLOWS OUTDOOR SEATING AT THE SPANISH BAR
In the recent past, it was a cumbersome process for restaurant and bar owners to secure a permit to set up outdoor seating areas near pedestrian right-of-ways, but city councilman Robert Thoms set out to change that. In 2015, he went to work creating an ordinance to streamline the outdoor permitting process, and within the first year there was a 600 percent increase in permits being granted.

INCREASING OF WAGES IN PIERCE COUNTY
A new federal report found wages rose significantly across Washington state last fall, including in Pierce County.

The average weekly wage was $989 in Pierce County in September, a 4.2 percent year-to-year increase, according to the  U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.

AREA LEADERS ADVOCATING ON BEHALF OF PIERCE COUNTY BUSINESSES IN D.C.
The Chamber delegation will be advocating on behalf of 1,700 members in Washington D.C., focusing on a number of issues including transportation and infrastructure, trade, fisheries, Alaska, defense, energy, workforce, healthcare, military procurement, and economic development.

PUBLIC HEARING TONIGHT - TELL YOUR COUNCILOR TO RENEW WITH NO CHANGES
Tacoma City Council will have a public hearing on the  Interim Regulations today at 5pm . Following this hearing will be a First and Second reading where council members will decide to renew with no changes or revise with amendments. In November 2018, they decided to renew with no changes.
