This Sunday, we join our brothers and sisters of Oxford United Methodist Church (OUMC) for Worship and Communion with Pastor Lawrence preaching. Worship begins at 10:00 a.m. in the sanctuary of OUMC at the corner of Church and Poplar Streets. Come and celebrate our unity as the body of Christ!

Ripped from the Headlines -- What Can a Presbyterian Do????
Come join us Sunday, August 12, the topic will be "Holding the Tension: Walking Faithfully through Israel and Palestine as a Disciple of Christ in the 21st Century".
The meeting will be led by Pastor Lawrence and held at the screened picnic structure in the meadow at 4719 Bonham Road from 4:00-6:00 p.m. (Note the time change!). Please park in the pasture.
Dinner will follow for those who can stay. Lasagna (vegetarian and meat will be served) along with iced tea, water, and coffee. Participants are invited but certainly not required to bring a side dish or dessert. If you can stay for dinner, an RSVP is requested, but not required. All are welcome whether or not you have attended any meetings in the past. Please consider joining the discussions in a supportive atmosphere where all views are encouraged and accepted.

Congregational Meeting Sunday, August 19
for the election of the Nominating Committee immediately following worship.
Church Nominating Committee
Are you interested in helping select who will be OPC’s next class of church leaders? Do you know someone who is? If so, consider serving on the Church Nominating Committee for 2018. 

Members of this committee will meet a few times, with some work, mainly phone calls, outside meetings. Service should end by late September or early October, when the slate for the new class of Elders, Deacons and Trustees is prayerfully completed.

This committee is co-moderated by Buzz Green and Nancy Moeckel, with Pastor Lawrence as an ex officio member. Diane Young is the member from the Board of Deacons.  At the brief congregational meeting, on August 19, immediately after worship, we will officially elect the additional members.

Seeking a Youth Director
We are actively seeking a part-time (up to 19 hrs.) Youth Director. The candidate must be committed to teaching and leading our youth as well as learning and growing as a person of faith. She/he should have a biblical grounding in Reformed theology to develop and lead youth groups for Middle School and High School youth, plan and lead Confirmation classes, and coordinate a summer youth mission trip.

We are looking for a person with extraordinary interpersonal skills, who can help our youth know and understand God, welcome curious minds, and provide spiritual guidance. Excellent organization, written and verbal communication, social media and computer skills are also important for a person in this position. Christ-centered, creative, energetic, and collaborative, the qualified candidate will report to the Pastor/Head of Staff with input and support of the Christian Education Committee

Any dry goods for the dry goods pantry are also accepted. Community meal volunteer sign-up sheets are available outside the church office and in the Molyneaux Lounge. Please place in the Administrative Assistant mailbox.
Apply to be a PC(USA) Young Adult Volunteer for 2019
The Young Adult Volunteer (YAV) program of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) is a faith-based year of service in 20 sites around the world and in the United States. YAVs accompany local mission partners working to address root causes of poverty and reconciliation while exploring the meaning and motivation of their faith in community with peers and mentors.
Program benefits include a regular stipend, housing, transportation and student-loan repayment options throughout the duration of the service year.
