Ministry News and Upcoming Events
Your Voice Matters
God speaks to us in three places: in scripture, in our deepest selves, and in the voice of the stranger. - Thomas Merton

We wholeheartedly believe that God is actively working through us during this pandemic. Jesus calls us today for a future that will transform us and our community.

During these months of reflection and quarantine, what new possibilities have you imagined for our congregation?

We want to hear from you!

Your voice matters.

Through these challenging days, let us live out our calling as Christ’s disciples to worship, connect, witness and serve in new and creative ways.
Nominating Committee
The officers of the Oxford Presbyterian Church are the vital component of our congregational leadership. God continues to work through the vibrant ministry of our church in the midst of the global pandemic. We are growing and learning so much each day. We invite you to take a few moments right now and consider people you will nominate for the following roles:

Deacon - This is a role rooted in compassion and connection for those in our community who need intentional care - seniors, those experiencing transitions, grief or illness, and many more. Consider people who have an active prayer life, naturally reach out to others during tough times and are gifted at following up with people.

Elder - The elders, in partnership with the staff, are responsible for nurturing the faith and life of the congregation. This is first a role of spiritual leadership and second of program leadership. Consider people who are already invested in OPC with their time and talents, those with enthusiasm for the furthering of the Gospel and those with vision.

Board of Trustees - The trustees are responsible for the church facilities and areas of specific financial resources that enliven our ministry. Consider people who are committed to OPC and have skills in facility maintenance, accounting, insurance, etc.

Prayerfully consider who you will nominate today.

If you have any questions please reach out to the co-chairs of the Nominating Committee, Buzz Green or Ginny Layton.
September Newsletter
Read any good books lately?

Share what you like with your friends in the September newsletter. Send me a title of a good book or share the name of your favorite author. Include a sentence or two telling why you especially enjoyed the book or like the author. For example: I loved My Life with Popeye the Sailor Man by Olive Oyl. It was a good tell-all, including stories about the Jeep, and even included some tasty spinach recipes. Send your recommendations to Nancy Moeckel moeckenj@miamioh.edu or give me a call at 523-6003. This will be a great reading list for us all!
Creating a Healthy Oxford Community
Thank you for your mission donations to the Kiwanis mini-drive. Because of your generous giving, the Oxford Senior Center received a healthy supply of cleaning and hygiene items as well as monetary donations.

Thanks be to God for the ability and generosity of our congregation to help our neighbors in need and this mission opportunity to move from words to witness and from charity to change.
Congregational Concern
For I am convinced that neither death, nor life . . .
nor anything else in all creation,
will be able to separate us
from the love of God
in Christ Jesus our Lord.
- Romans 8:38-39

Your Stewardship Matters

Stewardship is everything we do after we say, ‘I believe.’
-  Clarence Stoughton, former president of Wittenberg University

With the continuation of this pandemic, your stewardship remains as vital to ever as we increase mission support of our community partners, gather for worship via livestream, and faithfully connect in new and creative ways. Your gifts matter and make an impact as we respond together to the impact of COVID-19.

In lieu of a contribution to the physical offering plate, we would encourage you to mail your pledge/tithe to the church office or give through one of these digital avenues. To give online both conveniently and securely, you may access our online giving opportunity from your computer at https://onrealm.org/oxfordpresbychurch/Give.

To give via QR code, scan the code in the image below with your phone and follow the brief prompts. View a video tutorial here on giving through QR code.

To give via text message, text opc1825 and your designated amount to 73256. For example, text "opc1825 25" to 73256 for an offering of $25 and follow the prompt. View a video tutorial here on giving via text message.

Living Into Hope

You can survive on your own;
you can grow strong on your own;
you can prevail on your own;
but you cannot become human on your own.
