Congregational Meeting


The Annual Congregational Meeting of Oxford Presbyterian Church will take place on Sunday, January 20th following worship. Please turn in Committee Reports to the church office by Monday, January 7th.
Church Services at The Knolls
If you are unable to attend some of our church services on Sunday mornings, we have another option for you. Becky Quay shows recent church services on DVD at 10:00 A.M. on the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays of each month. In January, the dates are 8 and 22. A room change will be likely and announced once it is confirmed. If you would like to join us, but need a ride, just give Becky a call at 523-5747.
Tuesday Evening Circle
The Evening Circle is meeting January 8 at the home of Jane Baer, 131 E. Spring St., 523-5127. Karen Simpson is doing the program and Debbie Davidson will do the devotion. Seeing Jane in her home is always a meaningful experience.

Glencoe
Spirit of Scotland 2020
The Spirit of Scotland is an an eight-day guided tour exploring our sacred heritage, sponsored by the Oxford Presbyterian Church. If you ever dreamed of walking the historic streets of Edinburgh and Stirling, sauntering across the holy isle of Iona, witnessing the majestic beauty of the Scottish Highlands, or exploring St. Andrews’ ancient university and golf course, the Spirit of Scotland is for you. The tour leader is Pastor Lawrence in coordination with Rev. James Wallace (Church of Scotland). Ecumenical and welcoming, interested friends and neighboring congregations are invited to join us in May 2020 for this exciting spiritual journey.

A brochure and complete itinerary will be available in January.

Informational meetings will be on Sunday, January 13, at 11:30 AM, and Thursday, January 24, at 6:30 PM, in The Seminary, 104 E. Church St. (corner of Church and Popular).

Tuesday Afternoon Circle
The Tuesday Afternoon Circle will meet on January 15 in the Country Kitchen at 1:30 p.m. Reservations for the optional noon lunch are due to Lynn Cronk by Friday, January 11. Pat Gifford will be leading the lesson; Karen Shearer will conduct the Least Coin and Lynn Cronk the Mission Yearbook. Visitors and guests are always welcome. 
 
Lesson Four is “God with Us When We Seek God”. The Opening Psalm states, “…for you, O Lord, have not forsaken those who seek you.”
Young Adult Volunteer Program
The Young Adult Volunteer (YAV) program of the PC(USA) is an ecumenical, faith-based year of service in sites around the world and across the United States. YAVs accompany local agencies working to address root causes of poverty and reconciliation while exploring the meaning and motivation of their faith.
 
Program benefits include a regular stipend, housing, all transportation costs covered and student-loan assistance during the year. For more info, please visit the FAQ tab at the top of the YAV homepage - https://www.presbyterianmission.org/ministries/yav/

Young Adults are encouraged to prayerfully consider this life changing experience and keep the following dates in mind:
  • October 1st - Applications Open
  • January 1st -Round 1- (All sites available, early placement)
  • March 1st - Round 2 – (Final date to apply to international sites)
  • June 1st - Round 3 – (National sites only, limited spots available)
Creating a Healthy Community - Backpack Program
Mission and Outreach is happy to announce and thank the congregation of Oxford Presbyterian Church for raising $1300.00 for the Backpack program. This money was raised in November and December 2018.  Because of your generosity in giving, these funds will provide  twenty two students  at Kramer, Bogan, and Marshal elementary schools with nutritious meals for the weekends for a full year.
Faith in Action
Oxford Presbyterian Church has been invited by the Presbyterian Church in Hamilton to join them on a mission trip for Hurricane Recovery from February 3-9. Designed for men, this mission trip will travel to the panhandle of Florida to help Dogwood Acres Presbyterian Camp recover from the devastation left by Hurricane Michael last October. These days will be “work” days at the camp, with some time built in for worship, devotion, and fun. The trip will cost $250 per person and your deposit of $75 is requested as soon as possible. Please see Pastor Lawrence for more information.
