Ripped from the Headlines -- What Can a Presbyterian Do????
The next Ripped from The Headlines current events gathering for youth and adults will be held on Sunday, July 22 from 4-6 (note the change in time) at Ellen Buerk’s screened picnic structure in the meadow at 4719 Bonham Road. Dinner will follow for those who can stay. Pull in the driveway and park on grass. It gets wonderfully cool in the evening there!

Ellen Buerk will lead a conversation about how to talk to others with respect and appreciation even when you disagree strongly. She says, “I have decided to tackle the most challenging issue for me and that involves language and discourse between people using the concept of the common good and its origins in America. The loss of universal agreement of the common good leads to the chaos in which we now find ourselves.” The book used to develop this discussion is, The Common Good, by Robert Reich.

A timely topic indeed! Please join us for a thoughtful discussion and dinner. If you can stay for dinner, an RSVP is requested, but not required. Please call or email the church office TODAY before 4:30 p.m., 523-6364, office@oxfordpresbychurch.org.

You do not need to have read the book, nor do you need to have attended any previous sessions—come as you are if you are able.
Relay for Life Garage Sale
The church's Relay for Life yard sale last Saturday was very successful. $487.00 was raised during the 3-hour sale. The antiques and Longaberger baskets were a big hit with the customers. The final total for our church's fund-raising team was $15,522. Jennifer Lake raised the most funds out of all Oxford participants bringing in $4,895. Our team had 5 out of the top 10 fund raisers for the event including Jennifer Lake, Joyce Wilhelm (a Catholic friend who enjoys the fellowship of our team), Janet Holmes, Nancy Parkinson, and Becky Quay. Other members whose help is endless throughout our Relay Day and Yard sale include, Debbie Davidson, Paula Foltz, Leanne Staley, Mickey Preston, Scott Parkinson, Candace Crist, and Debbie DeGennaro. A huge thank you to all of our church members who donated to this year's Relay, attended the Relay, donated to our yard sale, and attended our yard sale. We are getting the word out there, and our church is very well known in the Cancer fighting circles.

Seminary Church Renovations
Renovation work continues to advance at the Seminary Church. This image looking through scaffolding into the sanctuary of the Seminary gives us a peek at the work in progress.
Our deep gratitude to the collaboration between the Trustees of OPC and the workers of North Shore Construction that will allow the entire facility to be used in our ministry and mission for years to come following this policy approved by the Session in April -
The Seminary is to be used to support community outreach activities, in addition to OPC activities, in accordance with the OPC Buildings Use Policy. The second floor of the Seminary is to be renovated such that a flexible, multi-purpose space is created. The use of the Seminary in this way will serve to support OPC’s mission of seeking, serving and sharing. This will serve as outreach to the Miami University and Oxford communities.
Meanwhile, look for additional images of the Seminary Church renovations in the August edition of our newsletter…

You may access this directory by using a member access code on our website, www.oxfordpresbychurch.org . You can obtain the access code by contacting Bridgite Dickerson in the church office at 513-523-6364. Once you have the code, use your smartphone or computer go to the church website, click on “Resources” in the blue navigation bar and select “Online Directory” to access the link.
If you do not wish to have your name in the online directory, you may opt-out by informing Bridgite. If you have additional phone numbers or email addresses that you wish to add to the directory, please call or email Bridgite at office@oxfordpresbychurch.org .
We hope you find this new feature useful!
