MAJUP has Landed
The Holy Spirit is amazing! The Colombian youth praise band (known as MAJUP) and their pastor just arrived in Ohio on a month long ministry tour… and JUST in time to offer an extra special treat for everyone in the spirit of our VBS theme “Praise the Lord”
MAJUP (an acronym that in English means "Presbyterian Youth Praise Ministry") is a project of the Presbyterian Church of Cartagena, Colombia. They offer inspirational praise music and stories of their efforts to help bring peace to their country and hope in the midst of poverty and suffering in Cartagena, their home city.
As the second day of VBS concludes about 1:00 p.m . on Saturday , EVERYONE is invited to be inspired by the music and message of MAJUP through a brief concert in the sanctuary of the Memorial Church.
VBS Dinner Donations

The VBS team needs your help! The Oxford Presbyterian Church is responsible for Sunday’s meal. We will be ordering fried chicken but we’re still in need of side dishes and desserts in order to feed the 200 hundred people expected to attend.  Donations will need to be dropped off at Oxford Methodist Church Sunday, July 8 after 9:00 a.m.  Please contact Emily Lykins at 513-291-1559 or e_lykins@yahoo.com.
Ripped from the Headlines -- What Can a Presbyterian Do????
There will be no gathering Sunday, July 8th. The next meeting Ripped from The Headlines meeting will be July 15th. We plan to discuss the idea of standing up, standing for, and upholding one’s own beliefs and morals in these difficult times. How does a Christian stand by their beliefs when so many things are going on to challenge keeping one’s composure, how to discern what is most significant? The meeting will be led by and held at Nancy Moeckel’s home, 3900 Kehr Rd., 3:00-5:00 p.m.

For reading in advance the following is suggested, but is completely optional:

All are welcome whether or not you have attended any meetings in the past. Please consider joining this discussion in a supportive atmosphere where all views are encouraged and accepted.
Blessed are you, Lord God, and all your creatures!
The Blessing of the Animals last Saturday was truly a celebration of God’s gift of life.
Let everything that has breath praise the Lord.
Praise the Lord. (Psalm 150)

Who is My Neighbor?
Thank you to the Oxford Presbyterian Church community for your support to spread the word about our need to have Oxford families hosting Latin American students over one weekend in July.
A foreign exchange program at Miami University (July 14- August 8) will bring 20 college students from six different Latin American countries (Nicaragua, Panama, Dominican Republic, Colombia, Venezuela, and Ecuador) to be in Miami for four weeks learning about the United States’ institutions. One of the program components is for the participants to spend a weekend (afternoon of Friday, July 20 until the afternoon of Sunday, July 22) with local families.
We have found so far accommodations for 10 students out of the 20 we will have in Oxford this summer. We are still waiting to hear back from some of the members that have shown interest and will decide soon if they will be able to do it the weekend we have scheduled it.
There also will be a small stipend of $100 per student to help with the cost of hosting. If there is any person or family interested in hosting during that weekend of July, please feel free to contact me, Juan Carlos Albarran, at albarrjl@miamioh.edu
Thanks for all your support.
Handicap Ramp Construction
The Facilities Planning Committee has been working on a ramp for the main entrance to the sanctuary. After a year-long process that included study of every conceivable configuration of a ramp, the Facilities Planning Committee has found a design that is ADA compliant and will integrate with the architecture of the building.
The Facilities Planning Committee is pleased to have the planning steps in this process completed. The Session voted unanimously on 6.18.18 to turn this project over to the Trustees for execution. We hope to start construction this summer.
We look forward to supporting all our members and guests in attending church despite having a physical limitation by including a building structure that will allow every person to enter the sanctuary easily and safely, using a common entrance.
Many thanks to the committee for their long and careful work, and to the many members who made significant contributions to this ramp!
An architectural rendering and features of the construction can be found the Molyneaux lounge.
Living Into Hope
Using the same old materials of earth, air, fire, and water,
every twenty-four hours God creates something new out of them.
If you think you’re seeing the same show all over again
seven times a week, you’re crazy.
Every morning you wake up to something that in all
eternity never was before and never will be again.
And the you that wakes up – was never the same
before and will never be the same again either.
