Sunday Worship 10:00 a.m. at the Seminary Church
We will gather in the Seminary Church for worship Sunday, May 26 . In preparation for worship, we encourage you to read the Scripture passage and reflect on what God’s word might be to you through the following questions:
Scripture: Acts 16:9-15
When have you felt God calling you through prayer, other people, music, dreams or a sudden insight?
F or further reflection:
  • Did this call require you to cross over to a new frontier?
  • How have challenges and struggles shaped your calling?
  • How has your calling changed over the seasons of your life?
Ramp Construction Continues
By wisdom a house is built, and by understanding it is established; by knowledge the rooms are filled with all precious and pleasant riches. - Proverbs 24:3-4

We have experienced a flurry of activity over the last couple weeks on the handicapped accessible ramp project. In a short period time we’ve seen the removal the existing stairs, excavation, and pouring the concrete for the footers, foundation walls, and walk surface.

Now that this worked has been completed there will be a 2-3 week pause where little visible work will be accomplished. Vendors and subcontractors have been waiting for the concrete to be in place so they can take final measurements in order to custom make our concrete top caps and steel railings. We are also waiting for the manufacturer to pour a special run of the faux limestone to meet our color preference.

Once all of these materials arrive on-site they will installed over a several day period and then we’ll be ready for landscaping as the last step before final completion of the project.

If you have any questions about the construction, please ask any member of the Trustees.

Thank You, Jake!
If you are a parent of one of our youth here at the church, you may have already heard the news that Oxford Presbyterian Church is saying farewell to Jake Smithers this week. Over the past school year, Jake has served as our Director of Youth Ministries here at OPC. Last week, Jake shared with Lawrence and myself that the month of May will be Jake’s final month with us here at the church and that he will be returning to Kirkmont Center as a staff member for the summer.

Over the past year, Jake has been leading Middle School and Senior High Youth Group on Thursday and Sunday nights, teaching confirmation class, coordinating fall and spring retreats at Kirkmont Center in addition to preparing three of our youth to travel to Purdue University this July to attend the 2019 Presbyterian Youth Triennium (Candace Crist and I will be accompanying our three youth as the back-home adult leaders for Triennium in Jake’s absence).

Over the next few weeks and months, you may be hearing a lot more about new plans for youth and family ministry here at OPC as we look ahead to the well as some new opportunities for you to get involved! Candace and I will also be in touch with the youth and parents who are participating in Triennium this year about what they need to know as we get closer to the trip.

In the meantime, however, I hope you will take a moment this week to thank Jake Smithers for his service to our youth and young adults. We here at OPC wish him well as he embarks on the next chapter of God’s call on his life.

Blessing and peace this week,
Pastor Marc

Living Into Hope
Nothing worth doing is completed in our lifetime;
therefore, we must be saved by hope.
Nothing true or beautiful makes complete sense in any immediate context of history;
therefore, we must be saved by faith.
Nothing we do, however virtuous, can be accomplished alone;
we are saved by love.
