October Stewardship Focus – Membership, Evangelism, Fellowship
Ministry and mission at Oxford Presbyterian Church takes on so many forms as we answer Christ's call in our community, nation and world.
“Thank you so much for your nice note!” “I appreciate your calling…I do have something I would like you to pray about.” These are just a few of the comments received by Membership, Evangelism and Fellowship committee as they connect with members and friends of our congregation. Monthly, committee members move through the OPC directory, contacting three to four families by notes, calls, or visits to let them know that they are in our prayers and ask if there are special concerns to lift up. If they are not regular attendees, MEF'ers let them know what is going on at church and encourage them to join us as they can. The Praying through the Congregation project is part of our goal to reach out to members of our church family. MEF coordinates regular updates of the OPC Church Picture Directory, enhancing internal communication, helping us match names and faces and stay in touch with one another!
Blessing of the Animals & Blessing of the Trees
Join us - tomorrow - Saturday, October 5 at 10:00 a.m.  in the courtyard of the Memorial Facility as we Bless the Animals and Bless the Trees.

Bring your dogs and cats… bring your gerbils and birds… bring your rabbits and fish…bring your friends and grandchildren with their beloved pets. All animals are welcome and should be securely restrained. Click here for the Facebook event.

We will be blessing the young oak trees grown from last year's acorns as part of our "Trees for Life" initiative.

Come for the animals.
Come for the trees.
Come for a blessing.
Peace and Global Witness Offering
Gathered on World Communion Sunday, October 6, the  Peace & Global Witness Offering  draws Presbyterians together as active peacemakers and provides education and exposure to those who show us how to do this work well. It allows us to create resources for dealing with conflict and nurturing reconciliation and stand in support of our global brothers and sisters, because the peace of Christ belongs to people everywhere.

As we support this Offering, we share the peace of Jesus Christ with one another, beyond the doors of Oxford Presbyterian Church, beyond the limits of Oxford, and beyond borders that may feel very distant.

For example, in giving to the  Peace & Global Witness Offering  you become active peacemakers who share in the struggle for human rights and democracy with church partners in Guatemala.

Thank you for your global witness. Thank you for planting the seeds of peace by giving generously in the Offering this Sunday, October 6.

Peace at all time in all ways.  2 Thessalonians 3:16
Donations for the CROP walk are still being accepted.
Thank you for your generosity!

Fall 2019 Rummage Sale
Episode 2, Season 27 As the Rummage Turns
Daily ReCap

At the Seminary, Billy, newly dismissed from jury duty, admitted that at first he had planned not to donate any items to the OPW rummage sale, but a vision came to him at 11:52 pm, and directed him to find gently used items he no longer gently used. He saw the light and gathered those items up, gently, and took them to the Seminary. He called his favorite clairvoyant and learned that the Seminary was open to receive donations and HELP on Saturday Oct 12, 10 am-12 pm and Sunday Oct 13, 2 pm-5 pm.
While he was at the Seminary, using his right hand that had been gently reattached with the ground-breaking surgery last week, Billy helped Beatrice, who had regained her memory after the swing set incident, receive more items, sort and price those items that the GFOPC (Good Folks of Oxford Presbyterian Church) had donated for the greater good. He couldn’t help everyday of the 3 days, Oct 14, 15 and 16, from 10 to 6 each day. He came when he wasn’t due in court and dropped off items and helped price, which was much appreciated. During the sale days, Oct 17 Thursday 6-8, Oct 18 Friday 10-3, and Oct 19 Saturday Bag sale and clean up 10-noon, noon to 1, Billy was excited to be there, to help and to reintroduce folks to his long lost twin brother who had just returned to Oxford. It was a gentle reunion.

Creating a Healthy Oxford Community
My Gifts Matter!
Throughout the history of Oxford Presbyterian Church, we have been blessed with a dedicated and generous congregation. As our heritage evolved, members have assumed responsibility to do whatever needed to be done by sharing their gifts of time, talent and resources. We are approaching another season of stewardship to continue that heritage. While stewardship is practiced throughout each year, this is a good time to take stock of our own time, our own talents and our own resources and determine how these gifts might matter in the continued life of Oxford Presbyterian Church.

Over the next few weeks we will focus on four areas of ministry that combine to define who we are. This year we have analyzed our comprehensive budget to determine the degree to which we support our worship function, our mission responsibilities, our fellowship opportunities and our Christian education efforts. The figures used are derived from last year’s budget and are presented with respect to distribution into each category of Christian witness.
