Congregational Meeting
We have a Guy!
And what a Guy!

The Associate Pastor Nominating Committee has a candidate, and not just any candidate. Over the past year, we have read countless Personal Information Forms, gone searching the internet for background, interviewed at least ten people, hosted five in Oxford, and are glad that the labyrinth we have traveled has brought us to this unique, warm, special guy.

And we’d love to tell you who he is, but we can’t. He is currently a solo pastor at a small church and wishes to hold off an announcement on our part until he tells his congregation. He has chosen to do this after the Oxford congregation votes on October 7, in a congregational meeting after the service where we will get to see him in action.

But you can have a sneak peek on Saturday, October 6 in the Molyneaux Lounge, from 2:00 to 4:00 in the afternoon, where we will have a meet and greet. You can have some personal interaction with a man who calls himself extroverted, a nerd, and whom a former executive presbyter says has the “woo” factor—he has a bright, engaging personality that just “woos” people in.

Come on Saturday, October 6, have some tea, punch, snacks and cookies, and see why the Associate Pastor Nominating Committee is overjoyed that this young man has chosen to join our wonderful staff and lead our Family, Youth and Campus Ministries.

Youth News
Both our high school and middle school youth had their first meetings, and they went great! Our high school group talked about possible trips for this year. A visit to a corn maze, a ski trip, canoeing, and many more possibilities are in the works! Our first middle school group might’ve been small because of the homecoming parade, but we still managed to have fun. Nina proves to do so in the photo, where she’s playing with homemade streamers made from VBS last year.

Our high school group will begin regular meetings again every Sunday from 6:00-8:00 p.m. starting October 14th. Our middle school group will continue regular meetings on Thursdays from 6:30-8:00 p.m. We hope our youth groups will be included in community service throughout the year.

To start off, we encourage the youth and their families to bring coats that are no longer needed to the meetings. Holy Trinity Episcopal church will be donating these coats to needy Latinos in Hamilton, Ohio. If you’re donating a coat, please make sure they’re here before October 25th. If you aren’t part of our youth group, or don’t have youth who attend, feel free to drop the coat off to OPC during office hours Monday-Friday 8:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.

If you think any of your youth and their friends will enjoy our youth group, encourage them to come! Anyone is welcome.

Peace & Global Witness Offering
Gathered on World Communion Sunday, October 7, the Peace & Global Witness Offering draws Presbyterians together as active peacemakers and provides education and exposure to those who show us how to do this work well. It allows us to create resources for dealing with conflict and nurturing reconciliation and stand in support of our global brothers and sisters, because the peace of Christ belongs to people everywhere.

As we support this Offering, we share the peace of Jesus Christ with one another, beyond the doors of Oxford Presbyterian Church, beyond the limits of Oxford, and beyond borders that may feel very distant.

For example, in giving to the Peace & Global Witness Offering you become active peacemakers who share in the struggle for human rights and democracy with church partners in Madagascar.

Thank you for your participation in this Offering next Sunday, October 7.

Peace at all time in all ways. 2 Thessalonians 3:16
