Lt. Gov Reynolds addresses ABI conference
Lt. Gov. Kim Reynolds addressed attendees at the ABI Conference on Thursday, June 16. During her remarks she focused on the need for a skilled workforce in Iowa and talked about how Elevate Advanced Manufacturing is a key partner in the state's Future Ready Iowa initiative. The Lt. Governor also promoted ABI in interviews with several local news outlets.
Legislators and state officials meet with ABI members
Members of the Iowa Legislature also attended the ABI conference in Sioux City. Rep. Mary Ann Hanusa (R-Council Bluffs), chairwoman of the House Economic Growth Committee; Rep. David Sieck (R-Glenwood); Rep. Chris Hall (D-Sioux City), who is ranking member the House Appropriations Committee, and former Speaker of the House Rep. Kraig Paulsen (R-Hiawatha), all visited with members during the event.

Local minimum wage talks in spotlight
The minimum wage has increased twice in Johnson County as outlined in a plan approved by the Johnson County Board of Supervisors last fall. So far, the increases have not been challenged.

Public hearing on antidegradation
The Iowa Department of Natural Resources (DNR) will hold a public hearing at 1 p.m., June 29 to take comments on the proposed rulemaking related to Iowa's water quality and the antidegradation rule. ABI has supported the rule, which you can read about
here. Now we need members to contact the DNR and ask them to support the rule either by attending the hearing and/or submitting written comments in support of the rule changes. Contact Jessica Harder,

Property tax credit applications due July 1
Did you purchase a new commercial or industrial property this year? Have you taken advantage of the business property tax credit after it passed in 2013? Don't forget you must have your application to the county assessor by July 1, 2016. If you have already filed for this credit, you do not need to refile.

Workforce Information Advisory Council to meet
The Workforce Information Advisory Council (WIAC) will hold its inaugural meeting on July 13 and 14 at the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) Training and Conference Center in Washington, DC. The full meeting announcement can be viewed

Your Annual Review Checklist
Preparing for an annual financial review may be easier with a checklist to help you focus on important matters. With that in mind, here is a list of key considerations that you may want to discuss with your financial advisor.
Do I need to rebalance my asset allocation? Depending on the performance of your investments, you may want to examine whether your mix of stocks, bonds, cash, and other assets is close to your target. If you have not reviewed your portfolio lately, you may be surprised at what you find. It's possible that your current asset allocation has changed quite a bit since the last time you checked, due to the different performance of the various investments in your portfolio.1 If that's the case, or if your outlook has changed, it may be time to readjust.
