Our Back to School Sunday was such a blessing as we welcomed new and familiar faces back to Sunday school!
It was so great to see children come forward in each of our worship services to get a backpack tag and receive a blessing as they head back to school! A special thank you to our Sunday school teachers and Praise Time leaders who made it such a meaningful morning for our kids!
We are so excited about what God is doing at Longview FUMC!
In Matthew 19:14, Jesus said, "Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these."

Children's Ministry is prayerfully searching for small group leaders for our Wednesday Night Children's Program: Kidz Blitz. An hour and a half of your time once a week will make a lasting impression on the lives of our children here at First United Methodist Church. Contact Loren:  or 903-753-4463.
Acolyte Training

Acolytes are members of the congregation who help with the worship service: as examples of worshipers, as leaders of the congregation during the service, as assistants for church leaders. They enter the church in procession at the beginning of the service carrying the light of Christ. At the end of the service, they extinguish the candles as they carry the light of Christ back out. We are beginning a new school year in the church. We are excited about welcoming new acolytes and look forward to seeing our returning acolytes. Sunday, August 26th immediately following the 10:45 services, we will be meeting in the Sanctuary for a brief acolyte training. Parents please attend this training with your child. Parents, if you are interested or would like more information on being an acolyte coordinator, please contact Loren Buchanan -

Thank you to all of the awesome Laundry Day volunteers!

Because of you, this past Saturday, we were able to hold " Laundry Day" at two locations and do over 200 loads of laundry! At the Quick Clean on Eastman Road, a lady named Ann came in expecting to spend her morning doing her laundry. When she found out that we wanted to pay for her laundry being washed and dried she was moved to tears. She manages an apartment building for cancer patients. She asked if she could bring back some more laundry later, and we said sure. She told us that she went back and knocked on every door in the building and asked if she could take their clothes or bedding to this Laundromat that First United Methodist Church was doing laundry free for the day. She returned later with at least eight loads of really dirty laundry. She was so appreciative. She told us just how hard it was for these patients to get out and what a blessing it was for them to have it done for free. She gave up her Saturday to make sure that they had a clean start to their week. How blessed these people are to have Ann in their lives!
Thanks for making " Laundry Day" happen!
