Give for Good Louisville is September 12

We're wagging our tails in excitement as we approach the Give for Good Louisville event September 12. This special day is a unique opportunity for you to make a lasting impact on our community and help us continue spreading joy, comfort, and unconditional love through our incredible therapy dogs.

Your support during Give for Good Louisville allows WAGS Pet Therapy to reach more people in need—whether it's comforting a patient in a hospital, bringing smiles to seniors in nursing homes, or providing emotional support to children. Every donation helps us train and place more therapy dogs, ensuring that we can continue to make a difference in the lives of those who need it most.

By donating, you're not just giving money; you're giving hope, happiness, and healing through the loving paws of our therapy dogs. So, let's come together and make this the best Give for Good Louisville yet. Your generosity will create countless moments of joy tomorrow.

On September 12 you will receive an email with the link to donate and other opportunities to spread the news. WAGS needs you and thanks you for your continued support and for being a part of the WAGS family.

And don't forget to join us at NEAT Bourbon Bar for Paws for a Cause.

Why WAGS?

By Julie Hines

As the WAGS Roving Reporter, I sent out a request to many of you to find out why you chose WAGS. Thank you all for sharing. I received so many wonderful stories, we have decided to share one or two with every Wagazine issue.

To date, I have received 47 replies to my inquiries.  (There’s still time to send your story to fishing-lady@live.com)

  • 20% came to WAGS by “Word of Mouth”.  Please continue to tell all your friends about Wags!
  • 40% searched us out online either because they had a special dog or were looking for a way to give back to their community. Thanks to all of you have developed our wonderful website!
  •  20% were referred to us by their trainer or vet.  Please pick up some of our WAGS Brochures to drop off at your Vet’s office!
  • 15% saw a team working and decided it was something they would be interested in doing.  Remember you are our best recruiter!
  • 5% were recruited at a Special Event.  Continue to work Events!

Linda Laun and Sharon Gretsinger founded WAGS because they were visiting with their dogs and could see they needed to have more organization. They never imagined 26 years later WAGS would become what it is today. We have certainly grown through the hard work of our many members!

Meredith & Fiona

Meredith & Lip

This issue, we are featuring Meredith Doll, who was a COVID ICU nurse in 2020. She was able to survive this difficult time with the help of her dog, Fiona (although Meredith questions whether she is actually Fiona’s therapy person.) In 2022, while getting gas at a Marathon Station, she noticed a dog someone had dropped off. Meredith believes this was destiny and happily rescued Phillip (Lip). She felt this very affiliative dog came to her for a special purpose. Meredith found WAGS online, and as fate would have it, Lip had every attribute of a therapy dog. Although Meredith works full time, she is eager to share Lip, who gladly brings comfort and joy to others.
