Thank you for setting aside some time to review The WICT Network Greater Ohio Newsletter.
In this Newsletter we will highlight Black History Month, Women’s History Month and Upcoming Events/Opportunities.
“Black Health and Wellness”
This year’s theme, takes a look at how American healthcare has often underserved the African-American community and acknowledges the legacy of not only Black scholars and medical practitioner’s in western medicine, but also birth workers, doulas, midwives, herbalists, etc. You will read about an inventor from Cincinnati, OH and women of color in STEM.
“Women Providing Healing, Promoting Hope”
Women’s History Month is an opportunity to reflect on and recognize the strength and many accomplishments of brilliant women throughout history. Every year the National Women’s History Alliance (NWHP) declares an annual theme for the celebration. This year’s theme is, “Women Providing Healing, Promoting Hope.”
This theme is a tribute to the never-ending work that caregivers and the frontline workers throughout the ongoing pandemic. It is also a recognition of the many ways women of all cultures have provided both healing and hope throughout history.

As women, we are often caring for others and forget to make time for ourselves. Self-care is super important for the mind, body, and soul. Did you know that there are 8 components of self-care? Here are the 8 components of self-care and how you can implement in your daily life.

Physical: Movement of the body, health, nutrition, sleep and resting needs.

Emotional: Enhancing emotional literacy, navigating emotions, increasing empathy, and managing stress effectively.

Social: Having a supportive group and network of relationships around you that you can trust and turn to.

Environmental: Having an organized, well maintained, and clutter-free work, business, and home environment, having clean and well-maintained mode of transport.

Spiritual: Having beliefs and values that are important to you and guide your life.

Financial: Being responsible with your finances and having a conscious relationship with money.

Occupational: Sharing your strengths and gifts, having clear professional boundaries, and living your purpose.

Mental: Learning new things, practicing mindfulness and creativity.
