Why the advancement of girls and women is essential to the advancement of the world

Imagine you were a twin, going to school, then getting your dream job, then both of you having your families and kids.
Then you wake up one day and hear that terrorists have come and taken over your country.
Life as you know it totally changes for you and your twin. Your twin now has to be accompanied everywhere by a male relative...to work, shopping, everywhere. Oh, they also have to dress how they are told, and whether or not they are allowed to continue to work outside the home, and what type, is left to the discretion of the males.
And so you both flee to the nearest airport with your families and children, and when you get there, there are so many refugees, you all end up having to make the painful decision of sending your children away, for, you would rather lose them to freedom than keep them in terror. And that's when it hits you. These terrorists that have wreaked complete havoc on your lives also have mothers.
What if those moms had had the resources to help their children grow up feeling less threatened and terrorized, and feeling that they could instead contribute to the betterment of the world?
