Recovery to Renewal

Crisis creates an opportunity to change the system. But if we don’t apply an equity first approach, we are very likely to replicate or even deepen inequities.

November WIN Digest - Stewardship Series

The federal government is making unprecedented investments in state, territorial, Tribal, and local governments. Never have communities had access to direct, flexible dollars. Never have communities had the opportunity to develop local solutions at this scale–solutions rooted in the voices and needs of residents.

Our best hope for equitable recovery and renewal is to organize local and national action around a single unifying and measurable expectation: All people and places thriving together, no exceptions. It conveys our commitment to create communities where all people have a fair chance to participate, prosper, and reach their full potential.

Thriving Together’s Recovery to Renewal webpage integrates the voices and experiences of stewards with pragmatic tools and actionable resources. The living library offers a starting point for local, regional, and state leaders working together to create a better future.
This edition of the WIN Digest is the third in a three-part series to introduce stewardship, share resources related to stewardship, and highlight how stewards are transforming communities across the country.

The Thankful Poor by Henry Ossawa Tanner
The Thankful Poor depicts a scene typical of Henry Ossawa Tanner's work: two versions of Black masculinity.

So much can be said from the postures of both figures but more than anything we can see how the older man is teaching the young boy to say a prayer of gratitude for the little food they have.
