Art Classes for Kids with Todd Tremeer – Kindergarten – Grade 6

October 7 – 28, 2023

Saturdays, 9:30 – 11:30 am

4 sessions

Drawing & painting with artist Todd Tremeer. Todd will guide age appropriate projects. Draw people and faces. Learn shading and perspective drawing. Use pencils, pastels, paint and make prints. Build a pop-up sculpture and paint a picture with plasticine. Learn to draw realistically with pencil and charcoal.. Paint with watercolours and build 3D sculptures with paper and other tools. Encounter art history’s famous artists along the way. Each week will feature a specific project to be completed during the class.

Acrylic Painting: Marble Technique with Sandra Poytress

Woodburning Landscape (Beginner)

In this three-hour workshop, you’ll learn how to create trees, foliage, grass and reflections. This is a great beginner workshop that will introduce you to the woodburning tool and some of the most-used tips. What’s more, you’ll come away with a beautiful project: the image of a lake landscape with birch trees!

Students must either bring their own woodburning tool or borrow one for free for the class from the instructor (numbers are limited, so this offer is on a first-come, first-served basis). Many people already have woodburning tools, so students should consider asking friends and family. If they decide to purchase a tool, there are several economical options, on particular the tools offered by Walnut Hollow that can be found in a lot of craft stores and online for prices starting at $20.

Henna Art with Hina Yasir

Discover the fascinating art of Henna. During this three week session you will learn about its history and traditions from around the world. You will learn how it’s prepared and its secret recipe. You will be able to practice designs using the unique tool of Henna under guided sessions. You will adorn gorgeous designs on your way home, applied by our professional artist.

Soapstone Carving with Peter Martin

Welcome to this popular class. Peter Martin will help you gain a better understanding of the beauty and techniques used in the ancient Inuit art form of soapstone carving. With Peter’s guidance, you will learn how to turn a rough cut piece of soapstone into a beautiful carving of a stylized rabbit. There is no requirement to know how to carve but some hand strength is advisable.

Member Cost: $90

Non-Member: $120

I always felt that there was an inner Bob Ross lurking around inside my brain but didn’t discover it until 2018.

I am retired after a long career in the administration sector – social services/legal etc. If it isn’t my Boys (including the main one) it is my animals that keep me busy. We foster pit bulls for Bullies in Need and it has been the most rewarding of all things! Our 3 cats are paramount in keeping them in line!

I reside in Kawartha Lakes, Ontario, Canada and have done a lot of travelling growing up as an army brat. This is home now and has been for over 30 years.

If I can say one thing about discovering this passion and hidden talent, it truly is freedom. Freedom to create… to let go of the craziness of life and to get into a Zen zone of creativity.

I art with tequila – it opens up the gates to let myself go with the flow of the paint!
