GivingTuesday is on November 29th
GivingTuesday is a world movement that proves the power of generosity.

People living with WM and supporters like you donate gifts of every size to help fund research aimed at achieving our mission of “A world without WM.”

As the world’s largest nonprofit funder of Waldenstrom’s research, The International Waldenstrom’s Macroglobulinemia Foundation’s goal is to raise more than ever this GivingTuesday 2022.

Your efforts will also help provide more support and education for everyone affected by WM including friends, family and care partners.

From CancerCare:
Shared Decision-Making Series:
Patients and Caregivers
Description
Shared decision making (SDM) provides a patient-centered approach to care. Health care providers work together with the patient to make health care decisions, focusing on what is best for the patient. This approach has been shown to improve patient communication and satisfaction while also reducing health inequalities among underserved populations. This two-part workshop series will discuss both the patient and the caregiver role in the shared decision-making process.

Tuesday, November 15, 2022
1 - 2:30 p.m Eastern Time.
Part one of this workshop will focus on the patient perspective of shared decision-making. Participants will learn about the shared decision-making health care model and how this patient-centered approach not only improves the patient-provider relationship but also focuses on the needs, values and preferences of the person with cancer. There will be time at the end dedicated to discussion and Q&A.

Thursday, November 17, 2022
1 - 2:30 p.m Eastern Time.
Part two of this workshop will focus on the caregiver perspective of shared decision-making. Participants will learn about the shared decision-making health care model and how caregivers have a unique experience in supporting their loved ones. Although each experience is unique, many caregivers face similar challenges during the decision-making process. There will be time at the end dedicated to discussion and Q&A.
Next Weekend!
WMUK Patient Doctor Summit
From the WMUK:

We are absolutely thrilled to be launching this year’s Patient-Doctor Summit on Saturday 19 November at Austin Court, Birmingham and we'd love you to join us.

This is our first fully hybrid event, so you have the choice to attend in person or virtually, and we’re really looking forward to welcoming you in person after so long.

In what promises to be a fantastic event, we’ll be bringing you the latest from the world of WM, giving you direct, exclusive access to WM experts and the ideal opportunity to connect with other WM patients.

Tickets are £20 for attending in person, and £5 for those attending virtually. If you can donate more then all the better, but equally, let us know if the cost will prevent you from coming. We want everyone to have the opportunity to attend and know many of you are concerned about the current cost of living crisis.

We will also be making sure masks and sanitiser are both available to help you feel at ease.

If you have any questions, please do get in touch.

We can't wait to see you.

WM Community Corner
WMUK Patient Support Manager, Bob Perry and a group of friends, WMers, nurses and consultants will be taking on the mighty Fan Dance in a few weeks where they'll be hiking Pen Y Fan to raise funds for WMUK.

From Bob:
41 years ago I passed selection to join the Special Air Service. Part of that Selection was the infamous Fan Dance in the Brecon Beacons, a 22 km march up to Pen Y Fan and down twice. Since then, for the past 7 years I have lived with WM. Now 68 yrs old, I want to take a team of WM Patients, Consultant Haematologists and Clinical Nursing Staff on The Fan Dance, not only as a show of Positivity and teamwork, but also on behalf of the many people living with WM who sadly will not be physically robust enough to take part because of this condition. Thankfully this time I won't have to do it within 4 hours with a rifle and pack, but it is going to be a tough ask of the guys doing it with me. Please help us raise some funds to continue to support our patients.

Good luck to Bob and the crew, and if you want to offer your support click here!
