Braddock District Budget Town Hall

I'll be hosting a Budget Town Hall tomorrow night, Wednesday March 11, at the Kings Park Library Meeting Room (9002 Burke Lake Rd, Burke VA 22015) at 7:30 p.m. regarding the proposed FY 2021 budget and strategic plan. If you're unable to attend in person you can watch and submit questions on Facebook by tuning in on my Facebook page. The recording will be available for later viewing. This will be an opportunity for Braddock residents to view a detailed presentation on the proposed budget and ask questions. I look forward to hearing your thoughts, concerns, and ideas. You can also share your thoughts by contacting my office at (703) 425-9300 or Braddock@Fairfaxcounty.Gov .

The Fairfax County Health Department is working tirelessly with the Virginia Department of Health and our local healthcare community to contain and limit the spread of the Coronavirus. On Sunday, March 8, Virginia's state and local health leaders held a press conference to provide an update with the most current information. During the briefing, Dr. Norm Oliver, the State Health Commissioner for Virginia, stated "The first two cases in Virginia of the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) disease were identified. While the risk to the general public is low, the Virginia Department of Health is working with the Center of Disease Control and Prevention, Fairfax Health District, Prince William Health District, and our Department of Defense partners to identify people who had contact with the cases, and may be at risk of becoming infected.” Click here to watch the full press conference.

I would like to personally remind all of my constituents that we are doing everything we can to ensure you have access to the most up-to-date accurate information. There are many resources available to you and your family and I encourage you to follow the steps below to stay healthy and prevent the spread of COVID-19.

The U.S. Census Bureau will begin mailing invitations to respond to the census as of March 12.

What you will receive in the mail in 2020:

  • March 12-20: An invitation to respond to the census.

  • March 16-24: A reminder letter.

  • March 26 - April 3: A reminder postcard.

  • April 8-16: A reminder letter and paper questionnaire.

  • April 20-27: A final reminder postcard before receiving a follow-up in person.

To ensure a complete and accurate count, census takers will also visit residents who do not respond. Achieving a complete count of Fairfax County residents is critical to ensure our community receives our fair share of federal resources and correct representation in upcoming reapportionment of legislative districts.
