Dear Neighbor,

First, I want to apologize. I know that many of you who are age 65-74 or who have a high-risk medical condition had been looking forward to registering today to begin the process of receiving the COVID-19 vaccine. If you attempted to do so this morning, you are understandably frustrated and angry.

Due to technical difficulties experienced by an IT vendor, the registration form was down for most of the morning. As a result, the Vaccine Hotline received thousands of calls and was overwhelmed. While this issue was unforeseen, it is still not acceptable.

The good news is that the form is now available. As a reminder, those age 65+, those with high-risk medical conditions, and certain groups of essential employees are now able to register to receive the vaccine as doses become available. While the vaccine hotline is open today, they are experiencing heavy call volume. The online form is recommended.

  • Use the online pre-screening form and vaccine appointment questionnaire
  • Call the Health Department’s vaccine hotline at (703) 324-7404 (Monday-Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., Saturday and Sunday, 9:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.)

Again, I apologize for the added stress caused by this issue. If you need additional assistance registering, please reply to this email or email [email protected]. We are here to help.
Yours in service,
Supervisor James Walkinshaw
