July 9, 2020
Dear Neighbor,
I hope you had a wonderful and safe 4th of July weekend. It was great to join the Little Run Citizens Association for their safe and socially-distanced car parade! This year's celebration was a bit different than normal, but they found a way to come together and celebrate nonetheless.
We have a lot of information in this week's Advisory!
I'm particularly excited to share that
registration is open for Camp Fairfax, an in-person summer camp available for the children of working parents. In the Braddock District, Camp Fairfax will take place at Braddock and Oak View Elementary Schools. This has been a challenging time for working families, and I know the return to school options in the Fall are creating additional stress. We are working hard to develop options to support working families and Camp Fairfax is part of that effort.

Volunteer to Give Rides to Seniors
|
|
NV Rides is in need of volunteer drivers to help seniors who need to get to doctors appointments, supermarkets and more.
If you have ever thought about becoming a volunteer driver, now is the time to give it a spin! As we start to re-emerge, our community’s vulnerable seniors will need our extra support. Volunteer drivers are a life-line not only for the ride they give but for the companionship they offer. One more volunteer driver information session is available this month. Please help spread the word and encourage your networks to learn how they can make a big impact in a neighbor's life.
The Zoom sessions are brief, informative and easy to attend.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, NV Rides requires all drivers and riders to wear masks and observe physical distancing protocols. Learn more by visiting

Leaving Home? Know the COVID-19 Risks Before You Go
|
|
We're still safer at home. But if you must go out, be aware of the risks.
There is no way to ensure zero risk when leaving home. In general, the more closely you interact with others and the longer that interaction, the higher the risk of COVID-19 spreading.
We cannot say how risky all the activities you may wish to participate in are, but we can share four important things to consider:
- The more people you interact with the more your risk of getting COVID-19 increases. Even if someone does not appear sick, they may have COVID-19.
- The closer you are to other people who may be infected, the greater your risk of getting sick. Indoor spaces are more risky than outdoor spaces where it might be harder to keep people apart and there is less ventilation.
- Spending longer time with people who may be infected increases your risk of becoming infected.
- Spending time with people who don’t wear a cloth face mask increases the risk that they could spread infection to you.
