February 1, 2021

Dear Neighbor,
I wanted to let you know about an important opportunity to learn more about Fairfax County's vaccination strategy and our continued efforts to secure additional vaccine doses.

Tomorrow, Tuesday, February 2, from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., the Board of Supervisors Health and Human Services Committee will feature a briefing from Health Director Dr. Gloria Addo-Ayensu. You can watch the briefing on Channel 16's live stream and a recording will be made available to view on demand

If you prefer, you can also call in for live audio at (703) 324-5300.
Yours in service,
Supervisor James Walkinshaw
Winter Storm Advisory Update
The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Advisory for Fairfax County until 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 2. Reports call for light precipitation (some frozen, some not) in the County which will persist overnight.

If you have not done so yet, take a look at my recent winter resource advisory for helpful winter weather information.

I'd also like to remind everyone to please be on the lookout for icy sidewalks and walkways -- and be very careful. Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department has already responded to two incidents related to people slipping and falling on ice. Stay safe and warm out there!
Demolition Beginning on
Former NVTC Buildings
The demolition of the former Northern Virginia Training Center buildings on Braddock Road is beginning this week. This is in preparation for Erickson Living’s construction of a new continuing care community. Please remember that this is an active construction site and it is unsafe for community members to be on the premises.
Stuff the Bus Food Drive
Thank you to everyone who came out to our first Stuff the Bus Food Drive of 2021. It was great seeing wave after wave of residents coming out to donate -- even during the cold weather! These donations will help local nonprofit ECHO refill its shelves with food for local families.

If you missed the food drive, or are able to help again, we will be back this upcoming Saturday, February 6, from 10:00 a.m. through 3:00 p.m. Review the most requested items before stopping by!

In Braddock, we will be at the following locations: (Click on the addresses below for directions)
