The Walls are Up on our 104th Home!
Thank you to all our amazing volunteers for coming together to build and raise the walls on our 104th home! Our volunteers are the heart and soul of our organization. Without you, we could not build homes for deserving families like Noe, Violeta, and Brigitte. Thank you for your help in creating a world where everyone has a decent place to live.
Now that the walls are up, there will be volunteer opportunities each Saturday this Spring to help build the rest of our 104th home. Check out the calendar on our website to find a date that works for you and/or your group.
A Message of Hope: "Sunday is Coming"
Read this word from Habitat for Humanity CEO, Jonathan Reckford, about the hope that we are reminded of this Easter:

"In recent weeks, we’ve been reminded that communities around the world have reached the one-year mark of the COVID-19 pandemic that has impacted so much of our daily lives...

While we have spent months wanting control of our lives back again, Lent reminds us that God is in control. We can trust Him even when we are carrying heavy burdens. Especially in those times....

As we journey toward the cross, we are reminded that there is hope....God has been faithful.... The pandemic exacerbated an already desperate housing crisis, so our goal has been to emerge in a stronger position than ever before. We are encouraged by new vaccines and falling numbers of people who are sick, so I pray that we will be celebrating soon. But we must hang on a little longer....

Sunday is coming. We can look forward to a season of hope and new life. We must continue to look up toward the God who loves us unconditionally, look out toward the promise that things will be better, and look forward — taking one step at a time in humble obedience."
Volunteer Food Coordinators Needed
Providing lunches for our volunteers is one of our favorite ways to thank them for all their generous hard work. We are in need of volunteers to help coordinate these meals on Saturday build days. These volunteers would need to be available on Saturdays to pick up the food, bring it to the build site, and set up and tear down. With the pandemic, this will be done in a safe manner, including individually wrapped meals and social distancing. Ideally, these volunteers would receive food donations as much as possible from restaurants and grocery stores.

If interested in this volunteer position and want to know more, please contact Lora Blakeslee Atkinson at lora@hfhdentoncounty.org or call (940) 484-5006. Spread the word!
