Meet David Yanes
David Yanes joins the Lakehill staff this year as Director of School Security. After retiring from law enforcement in 2015, Yanes created a law enforcement and criminal investigation curriculum serving over 1100 students per year in Rockwall schools. He is in his thirteenth year in education and previously served as a high school teacher and resource officer. He also served seven years of active duty and eight years of reserve duty in the United States Army.
“I have the greatest respect for educators. I believe without education, there is nothing,” says Yanes. Strong roots of education run within Yanes’ family. His wife is going into her twenty-eighth year of teaching and his son is just beginning year number one as an educator. Yanes and his wife have three children and six grandchildren.
A travel enthusiast, Yanes thrives on experiencing different cultures, especially the food. He and his wife enjoy cooking and trying new restaurants together. In the evenings, you can find Yanes reading a new book, playing his guitar, or on the golf course.
“I am extremely serious about school safety and security.” Yanes believes the best part of his job is being responsible for providing a safe and secure environment for the Lakehill students and staff. He strongly believes that the people are what make Lakehill special. “I am looking forward to developing meaningful relationships with staff, students, and families.”
A Dallas-area native, Yanes attended Bryan Adams High School, Central Texas College, and Troy State University. He earned a degree in Emergency Management and Homeland Security. Yanes holds several certifications, including a Master Peace Officer License with the State of Texas.
