Headmaster's Update
Dear Lakehill Community:

Thanks to the thoughtful and deliberate efforts of our Reopening Task Force, last week we were able to provide you with our Plan for Reopening Lakehill. I hope you have all had time to review the plan and were able to join us for one of the division-specific Question and Answer sessions this week. If you have any additional questions, please feel free to contact me, or any member of our administrative team.

Our dedicated faculty members have been diligently preparing to offer a robust learning experience both while we are distance learning and when we return to campus. In this time of uncertainty, we are committed to providing the excellent Lakehill experience we expect and cherish.

Our Guide to Reopening Lakehill will be updated regularly as more details are finalized. Please note, however, that major changes in conditions could mean we have to adjust parts of our plan. We will remain flexible and ready to adapt as needed because we have seen how quickly circumstances can change.

Our Lakehill community is truly a family. As we move forward, our future will be one filled with new ways to connect and build relationships. I have never been more proud to lead and serve a community so committed to the School’s mission and to each other. I thank you for joining us on this journey.

Sincerely,
Perry Signature

A Message from the Board of Directors
Last week, the Lakehill Board of Directors voted to retire the Native American imagery that we have used in association with our Warrior mascot and to replace it with updated branding to be presented in 2021 during Lakehill’s 50th anniversary celebration. This is part of our ongoing dedication to diversity, equity, and inclusion in all aspects of our community.

We will create an exploratory committee that includes representatives of all constituents of the Lakehill community to develop new Warrior branding that will take us into our next 50 years. We will remain Warriors, but will rely on new imagery that continues to honor all of the reasons that the Warrior was chosen in the first place - to promote and recognize our fighting spirit, honor, strength, integrity, and loyalty - but will do so in a way that is sensitive to all cultures.

Chair, Lakehill Board of Directors

News from the Parent Faculty Club (PFC)
Hello, parents! We are getting excited for the 2020-2021 school year. I know that many of your children are missing seeing their friends, and I miss seeing all of you as well!

I am so happy to hear all of the plans that Lakehill has to keep our children learning and connected until it is safe to be together. Our administration and teachers have put in so many extra hours and time already this summer; researching learning platforms, brainstorming creative learning processes, and putting health and safety practices into place so that the school can be ready to host students when possible. So, a huge THANK YOU to all of our Lakehill staff for the work that they have done and continue to do on all fronts.

PFC Updates
I wanted to update you on a few items from the PFC. First, we obviously will not be able to host our usual Back-to-school Picnic in August. This is always a favorite event, and we look forward to hosting it again next year. Other PFC events for the year will be decided on a case-by-case basis, depending on current circumstances. We will have Zoom PFC meetings beginning in September. It was exciting to have so many of you able to join our meetings this spring. I hope to see some new faces as well!

School Supplies
We are working to get school supplies for K-8 delivered in a new “drive-through” format, similar to locker pick-up in the spring. Each grade will have an assigned pick-up time slot on Friday, August 14.

Kindergarten - Second Grade 10:15 - 11:00 a.m.
Third - Fifth Grades 11:00 - 11:45 a.m.
Sixth - Eighth Grades 11:45 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.

P.E. Uniforms
Orders for new P.E. Uniforms are on hold for now, and it is likely that we will place an order for the spring semester. If you have already ordered a uniform, we will be processing refunds soon. For the fall semester, when students return to campus, dressing out for P.E. will be handled more informally.

Spirit Shop
Our Spirit Shop is hard at work transitioning to an online format, since access to the shop within the school building will not be possible initially. We hope to have an online shop up and running by the end of August, with existing favorites and some fun new items. Stay tuned!

Thanks as always for your support of Lakehill and the PFC. This year may not look like any year that we have previously had, but I am confident it will be a good one.
