East Dallas Chamber of Commerce bestows Lifetime Membership Award to Mr. Roger L. Perry
On Monday, January 18, Mr. Brad Grist, Chairman of the Board of Greater East Dallas Chamber of Commerce (GEDCC), delivered a Lifetime Member award to Mr. Roger L. Perry.

This award is presented to individuals who have exhibited exemplary service to the East Dallas Chamber and to the East Dallas community. Mr. Perry was the first Chairman of the Board of Directors of the GEDCC to serve three consecutive years in that position. He held the title from 2011-2013 showing great dedication to serve the community of East Dallas.
The GEDCC Board of Directors voted unanimously to bestow this honor on Mr. Perry. This award is not presented yearly, in fact, Mr. Grist has served on the Board of Directors for four years and this is the first recipient during his time. Mr. Grist emphasized in his letter that this award is for exemplary service.

Congratulations and thank you to Mr. Roger L. Perry for his dedication to East Dallas and the Lakehill community.
Class of 2021, Senior Spotlights
Matthew McCall
Matthew McCall is a Lakehill lifer, having attended Lakehill since kindergarten. While attending Lakehill, he has participated in a variety of activities including football, basketball, track, PASF, Student Ambassadors, Chess Club, National Honor Society, and Sports Leadership Club.

While Matthew has been involved in many activities, athletics has played a large role in his success during his time at Lakehill. His favorite memory during these thirteen years is winning the State Championship in football, a special day filled with emotion for him and his teammates. Matthew earned several football awards over the past four years including First Team All-District wide receiver, Second Team All-District defensive back, Academic All-State, and All-State Honorable Mention wide receiver. Beyond football, Matthew has also earned Second Team All-District Second Baseman for baseball and First-Team All-District 4x100m relay for track. 
Matthew noted early in the fall of his Senior year that the Fourth Grade Invention Convention first sparked his interest in Engineering. He plans to major in Aerospace Engineering with a minor in Astrophysics. His academic awards include Headmaster’s High Honor List, National Spanish Exam Silver Medal, Rho Kappa National Social Studies Honor Society, and Mu Alpha Theta Mathematics Honor Society.

Matthew has applied to several colleges, including University of Colorado-Boulder, Colorado School of the Mines, Stanford University, Pepperdine University, California Institute of Technology, Southern Methodist University, and University of Southern California.

Matthew’s advice to all Warriors is, “High school goes by fast, take advantage of every opportunity you get!”
Krista Carlson
Krista Carlson has attended Lakehill since ninth grade. While attending Lakehill, Krista has been involved in basketball, volleyball, Sports Leadership, Rho Kappa National Social Studies Honor Society, Leadership Academy, and Rubik’s Cube Club. This year, she is also behind the scenes broadcasting football, volleyball, and basketball games on the Lakehill TAPPSTV Network.

Krista is an active member of Digital Production, noting it as her favorite high school class, and has found a passion for Film Production. Her energy and wit are great strengths in creating comedies with her friends!

Sports have played a major role in Krista’s time at Lakehill. Her favorite memory is scoring the game winning shot against Covenant her Sophomore year. This come from behind victory was memorable because of the 19 point deficit that she and her teammates came together to overcome. Krista has earned several awards including Freshman of the Year and First-Team All District for basketball and First Team All-District for volleyball.

Krista is planning on attending college in Western Canada and majoring in Film Production.

Her advice to all Warriors is, “Involve yourself in as many activities in high school as you can because that is where you will make the most memories!”
Warriors Complete Home Sweep
Middle School Girls basketball came out strong and won 20-10 against FBA on Tuesday evening.

Esther Neerman led the way with 12 points and 5 steals and Cece Degeyter followed with 4 points and 6 assists. Miyu Nagumo and Elisa Haden also pitched in 2 a piece. Harper Kuhn and Allison Majors were forces on the defensive end and tallied multiple rebounds.

The girls tip-off at 6:00 pm tonight at Cornerstone.
An explosive offensive start prompted the 49-24 victory over FBA for the Middle School Boys basketball team on Tuesday evening.

RJ Yttredahl had a game high 30 points and Drew Perry had 15. Jason Dickerson and Ian Johnston not only pitched in 2 a piece but also helped push the Warrior defense.

The boys tip-off at 7:00 pm tonight at Cornerstone.
