Dear Lakehill Community:
As schools throughout the state stand by for guidance from the state and county, we are continuing to develop detailed plans for a health-informed, in-person semester this fall. We also continue to evaluate other options, should a change of plans become necessary. We are finalizing our health and safety protocols and are continuing to work on the details of the campus experience and instructional processes. As always, the health and safety of our Lakehill students, faculty and staff, and families is our top priority.
The entire Lakehill team is working together to develop a plan to return to campus in a way that reduces the exposure of our community to the virus as much as possible. We will continue to revise these plans as more details from the state become available. Our complete Plan for Reopening will be released on July 17. This week, I would like to share information on our enhanced Health and Safety Protocols.
New Health, Wellness, and Safety Procedures:
Face Coverings: The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) recommend that students and staff wear face coverings while at school. Lakehill plans to follow this guidance in order to provide an additional layer of protection for our community. Students should bring a face mask or face shield to school every day so that it can be worn when physical distancing is not possible.
Physical Distancing: As recommended by the American Academy of Pediatrics, Lakehill is reconfiguring its classrooms to allow for three to six feet of physical separation for all students and faculty when in a classroom setting. Science and computer labs will be equipped with Plexiglas dividers.
Sanitary Measures: All cleaning and sanitary practices on campus will be enhanced. Hand sanitizing stations are being installed in every classroom and in common areas. Enhanced cleaning protocols will include high-touch areas and restrooms being frequently cleaned throughout the day.
School Nurse: We are excited to be adding a full-time school nurse to our team. If a student is sent to the Health and Wellness Center and is running a fever, coughing, or experiencing shortness of breath, they will not be allowed to return to class. Students will be required to remain in the Health Center until they are picked up by a parent or guardian.
As we implement these enhanced cleaning protocols and safety measures, we ask for your continued support. The role of our entire Lakehill community in this shared responsibility includes maintaining safe and healthy behaviors that protect each person and those around them, such as wearing face coverings and practicing physical distancing.
Lakehill is planning to open for in-person instruction as planned on August 24. We are committed to providing the highest quality education possible to every student, and to support the well-being of every student and every faculty and staff member, every day. While our goal is to have our students on campus, we realize that there may be a few students who will not be able to join us in person for various medical reasons. We will work with them on a case-by-case basis.
We will continue to update you weekly as we fine-tune our plans regarding safety precautions, instruction, the school calendar, and the on-campus experience. We will also ask all of you to join in prudent health and safety actions that will embody our commitment to caring for one another.
Sincerely,
