Game, Set, Match!
Varsity Volleyball kicks off the season with a win.
Lakehill varsity volleyball opened the 2020 season in the win column. The Warriors pulled off a five-set win on Tuesday night to start the season 1-0. The Warriors took the first two sets 25-20 and 25-16 before dropping the third and fourth sets 13-25, 17-25. Senior captain Jourdyn Owens started the Warriors off on a 7-0 run to start the deciding fifth set and the girls never looked back, finishing the set 15-4. Fellow senior captain Maddie Cerda led the team in kills and Kathryn Mahan was a presence at the net from the middle.

“I was excited with how well they worked together as a team and maintained the composure that we needed for a win. We had to work around a lot of Coram Deo’s height on the court, but the girls did a great job competing,” said Coach Cayme.

Now 1-0, the Warriors continue their season at North Dallas Adventist this evening. Only Varsity will be playing with first serve scheduled for 6:30 pm. The team will host the first half of district play starting next Tuesday against Lucas Christian followed by McKinney Cornerstone on Thursday. All home games this season will be JV at 5pm and Varsity at 6pm. Be sure to live stream the game on TAPPSTV and support your Warrior Volleyball team.
Warrior Football is Back in Action
The reigning state-runner up Warrior football team kicks off season tomorrow night.
The Lakehill Warrior Varsity Football team ended last season in the State Finals game as the TAPPS Six-Man Division I State Runner-Up.

The Warriors made school history during the 2019 campaign going undefeated into the state championship game. Coach Mitchell has high hopes coming into the 2020 season that kicks off tomorrow night at 7:30 pm.

"We are excited to get the season started and compete," said Head Coach Jairus Mitchell. "We understand the importance of using last season's momentum to push us moving forward. The boys have worked extremely hard and I am excited to watch their hard work pay off."
Lakehill Warriors Athletics will live stream the football and volleyball games this fall. With restricted attendance, students and faculty will not be able to attend the games. The link below will take you to our TAPPSTV channel. There is no charge to watch Lakehill games.

Go Warriors!
Lakehill Prep Student, Nicholas Meadows, caught the attention of local news.

As part of his Eagle Scout project, Nicholas Meadows built the bird enclosure for Rogers Wildlife Rehabilitation Center, a nonprofit that provides care to injured, sick or orphaned birds with the goal of returning them to the wild.

Meadows got started by building a model and raising support from family and friends. With the $2,200 he collected, he purchased wood, nails, wire mesh and stone pavers.
It took Meadows and five friends six hours to build the panels. The next day, they loaded everything into a trailer and built the structure over eight hours in 100-degree weather.

The extreme heat wasn’t the only obstacle with which the boys had to contend. During lunch, roaming peacocks tried to take a bite of their meals.
Although other Boy Scouts have built enclosures at the center, this one is the largest at 16 x 20 x 12 feet.

Other volunteers include: Jack Ryan Berube, Woodrow Wilson High School; Brendan Hall, Lakehill Preparatory; Campbell Whann, Highland Park High School; Connor Whann, Highland Park High School; and Jack Wildham, Lakehill Preparatory.

“It felt amazing that we were able to accomplish that,” Meadows said. “I felt so happy and thankful for my friends. I couldn’t have done it without them.”
