Happy Friday! It was wonderful to see students and families at school yesterday afternoon and earlier today for our first round of in-person conferences in two years! We brought back our traditional arena-style conferences for the spring and put the conversations in the hands of our students.

Our Independent Project work is in full swing as we learn more about our topics and start to put our learning and research into written form. Independent Projects are a process and that process looks a little different than a traditional classroom. Because of this, you may not see as many grades in the grade book until closer to the end of the term. Students should have a good idea of how they are performing based on mini conferences with their teacher, formative assessment results and teacher feedback. Because we also believe in being able to go back and make changes when possible, students will still have time to improve some grades before the term wraps up.

Thank you to those of you who have purchased tickets for our Back Together Again event on May 12. We are putting together some great silent auction packages and those will begin to be advertised in the Wave and inside of the school to get your kids excited. Come join us for a BBQ meal provided by the Lions Club, yard games, and a chance to gather and reconnect.

Finally, please join me in helping Ms. Mathis' final days at Three Rivers be her absolute best. Ms. Mathis has worn many hats over her time at TRCS and I cannot thank her enough for helping me get acclimated to my new role. Please see her message to you all below!
It is with a heavy heart that I announce that I am leaving Three Rivers. It has been an honor and a privilege to work with each of you, along with the hundreds of other TRCS students & families over the past 14 years. I am so grateful for the opportunity to learn and grow from every person that has walked through the school’s doors (in both buildings!). The connections and friendships I have made here have changed my life for the better. There is nowhere else quite like TRCS and we are all better for having been a part of something amazing! I’m truly going to miss each and every one of you.

Wish you all the best,
Ms. Mathis

AMC 8

We are very happy and proud to announce that TRCS students did very well in the AMC 8 math competition. This was our first year participating in the competition. TRCS got a prize for having 3 students (Arush Goswami, Anshu Mukherjee and Anvi Singh) having a combined score of greater than 50. Arush Goswami received a perfect score. He is the only student in Oregon who had a perfect score. Congratulations to all of our participants: Valentina Dias Gaspar, Annika Martin, Michael Gong, Akshay Shah, and Aarush Vegesna.
Drone Footage
Do you have a drone that records video? We are looking for some aerial footage of Three Rivers for a video we are putting together. Some aerial shots would be great, especially dynamic footage. If you have a drone that can do this and you’d be willing to come out and take some footage one evening or on a weekend, please email Megan Elston!
National Teacher Appreciation Week is on the Horizon

Would you like to help celebrate the incredibly talented team of teachers that we are gifted with here at TRCS? If so, please reach out so we can brainstorm ways to let them know how appreciated they are in our academic community. We'd love for our students and families to help show our teachers how much they mean to us the week of May 2nd!
OSAS Testing Dates

OSAS testing is coming our way in May. We will be working with students on how to successfully prepare for testing. You can help by encouraging a good breakfast and a healthy snack. You can also help by avoiding the following times for appointments, so that we can get everyone wrapped up in just two weeks!

  • 8:00-10:00 AM - all 4th and 5th graders - ELA
  • 10:15-11:35 AM - all 6th, 7th, and 8th graders - Math

Friday, May 20th
  • 8:00-10:00 AM (or until finished) - 5th and 8th graders - Science

May 23rd - May 25th
  • 8:00-10:00 AM - all 6th, 7th, and 8th graders - ELA

Volleyball

Volleyball is coming the week of April 25th. Please help your students remember proper footwear (closed-toed shoes), a water bottle, and appropriate clothes for the weather! We play rain or shine! An extra pair of shoes that can get a little muddy, or an extra pair of dry socks for the end of the day are also a good idea.
