February 28, 2020
Today marks the official end to Term Two. I cannot believe we are now officially two-thirds done with the year. Teachers have spent the past two days working hard to get report cards ready. They will go out prior to spring break!
The start of the spring term marks the beginning of the IP season. We have had quite a bit of excitement around IP topics this week as our students began working through IP topic selection. If you have not heard about your child’s topic, make sure and ask. It is remarkable to watch our students dive into a topic and create wonderful projects for our end of the year celebration. Please make sure your calendar is marked for June 4th!

Compassion thought of the week: This week’s compassion statement comes from one of our 7th graders. It is great to see our students thinking about compassion at this level. “Compassion is different than hearing something sad and saying, aww I feel bad for you. It comes from a place inside you that only you can access. From something you experienced and that holds value to you. It’s not pity, it’s a connection to someone and being a shoulder to cry on or someone to laugh with. To me, compassion can be the ultimate way to bond with someone. Something you can’t get with a text message, social media or facetime. It only happens when you make real connections.” I hope everybody takes time to connect in a meaningful way this weekend.

Hopefully, we continue to see some spring weather and temperatures rise. The changing of the season is so great here in the Pacific Northwest. Have a wonderful weekend - enjoy your extra day (it’s a Leap Year!) and your start of March, and we will see everybody on Monday.
