Happy Friday to you! Next week is one of the traditions at TRCS that students love the most - 4/5 Week and Outdoor School! Our entire staff has spent weeks getting the details finalized so that all students will have a memorable week. We will not have cell service at Camp Tapawingo, but will be sending updates to the office at TRCS, which will emailed out towards the end of each school day. Students will be finding out their groups and cabins today as well as getting camp sweatshirts. 4-5 Week will be full of fun activities highlighted by a trip to Ninja Go and the Oregon Children's Theatre!

Health update: We are still in the peak months for cold, flu and lice season. We want to make sure we are doing everything we can to stay healthy. We are asking students to continue to wash their hands as much as possible, wipe down eating areas, have them not share drinks, food, hats, or hair ties. We are continuing to clean surfaces daily and washing all of our furniture covers.

6th, 7th & 8th Graders!
Please make sure you have your alarms set for Monday morning and your student is in the parking lot at Athey Creek Church by 1:15 pm with all of their gear. Don't forget to have each student eat a healthy lunch, too! The bus will leave at 1:30. Remember to pack appropriately for the weather.
Muffins are still needed, so please bring a dozen or two to the bus drop off in disposable containers (we are unable to guarantee we can return containers)!
4th & 5th Graders!
Next week is jam-packed full of fun, educational activities, as well as dress up theme days! Please see  the schedule here . We are looking forward to a week of great friends and learning experiences. Thank you to all of our volunteers who will be helping us make the week happen.
Please note, there is NO after school care offered during 4/5 week!
On April 9th & 10th, we will be offering optional arena-style conferences for parents to come and check in with teachers. This is an opportunity for questions to get answered and concerns to be addressed. Students are welcome and encouraged to attend. Again, these are optional . They are drop-in and will be approximately 5-10 minutes long. Please mark your calendar for April 9th, 5:00 pm-7:00 pm and April 10th, 10:00 am-1:00 pm. Also, please note, there is no school on April 10th.
On Tuesday, the 4th and 5th grade students are going to see  The Journal of Ben Uchida  at the Oregon Children's Theatre. We felt that this production would help to emphasize our year-long focus on compassion while also teaching our students about a troubling time in U.S. History. There is a content advisory for this show, which you can find on the   OCT website . You can also look through the  OCT's resource guide  for this show. We found this review by a 9 year-old helpful, too. Our teachers will be doing a pre- and post-show lesson based on the resource guide. If you have any questions, please contact Meg Elston.
iFLY Adventure-Registion Extended to March 13th! Still want to join the iFLY adventure? iFLY has extended our deadline until Friday, March 13th! Join your TRCS friends for an iFLY adventure on April 3rd, 2020. The TRCS parent group is organizing an exciting iFLY field trip, which includes a STEM presentation, a physics demonstration, a lab/experiment activity, and 2 flights per student. iFLY will offer a session geared toward 4/5 students and another for the 6/7/8. Please click on the 4/5 link or the 6/7/8 link to learn more about each iFLY program. This experience will cost $45 per student. Each student will also receive a goodie bag, t-shirt and video of their flight. The adventure will begin at 9:00am at iFLY. The class is estimated to be 2-3 hours. The end time will depend on the number of participants. A more accurate end time will be announced once we have a final count. We hope you can join us! Please complete the registration form and return to TRCS by March 13th. We will need a few additional chaperones. Please let us know if you are available to help chaperone this event. If you have any questions, please contact Karen Gault or Victoria Vysotskiy .
