What's Happening at TRCS
A MESSAGE FROM NIC CHAPIN
|
Happy Friday to you! It has been a fun week at TRCS, as we settled into our regular schedule. We had a great picture day on Wednesday! It was so fun to see everybody dressed up! I was amazed at seeing all the different types of fashion represented! Thank you to everybody who came out to our 1st Annual and inaugural TRCS movie night. It was so fun getting to hang out with everybody and watch
The Sandlot
! A special thanks to Ms. Mathis who planned the event! I look forward to seeing everybody at back to school night next Thursday the 19th at 6:00pm.
On Wednesday we paid tribute to 9/11, by having our students walk around the building and up to the fence at the front of our property. We made a sign that said, “TRCS Remembers” and each student tied a yellow ribbon on the fence. Next time you drive by please take a look. We were so proud of the way our students handled themselves during the recognition.
Compassion thought of the week: I am reminded of a quote I saw by Sandy Dahl, the wife of Jason Dahl who was one of the pilots of United Flight 93, “If we learn nothing else from this tragedy, we learn that life is short and there is no time for hate.” We need to continue to replace hate with compassion and we will make the world a better place. We will remember!
Have a great weekend and we will see you on Monday!

Hello TRCS families! I hear the year is off to a great start. While I am home with baby Elliott enjoying this time as a new family, I have also had all the familiar faces at school on my mind. I love hearing updates from the rest of the staff! Elliott is as sweet and adorable as can be and I am so fortunate to be able to spend this time focusing on him. This first month of life has brought some unexpected events along with all the joy. Elliott, like all babies, needs love and care. In the coming months, he will need more time with me at home than anyone originally expected. Though the details are private, please know that Elliott is a strong boy with a healthy, happy future. Still, it weighs heavy on my heart to share that I will be taking the rest of the 2019-20 school year away from teaching to care for him, with plans to return to school next fall. I can’t imagine staying away from TRCS entirely for the year, however, so expect to see me —and sometimes Elliott, too— at some school events. I am grateful to be a part of this awesome community and appreciate all the interest in Elliott!
See you soon,
Ms. Staheli

With the news from Ms. Staheli, I would like to update you on a staffing adjustment at TRCS. We have been working on a plan for a long term sub. Ms. Grobey will be joining our staff as a long term sub for the remainder of the year. This term she will begin co-teaching with Ms. Collins and Ms. Elston. We are lucky to have Ms. Grobey join us and are looking forward to the year ahead. The last adjustment will be in Ms. Murray's schedule. She will be moving to a full-time role for the fall term. If you have any questions please let me know.

Hello all! My name is Halah Grobey and I am so excited to be a part of TRCS for the remainder of this school year. Here are a few things so that you can get to know a little about me:
I graduated from Whitworth University last year with a degree in Education and had such a great experience. I absolutely love teaching. In the last year, I was a substitute all over the area, a coach for volleyball, basketball, and track, and had the opportunity to live close to my family again and it’s been such a joy. Finally, a few of my favorite things are singing (I was in choir in college all four years), sushi (a superior food in my opinion), and the Blazers (anyone else waiting for the season to start?).
I am so excited to get to know so many of you in the coming months. Thank you for allowing me to join the family!

Next week, we will have slices of cheese and pepperoni pizza for sale at lunch. Each slice is $2 and will be available until we sell out!

REMINDER:
Our school day is 8:00 am - 3:15 pm. The school doors open to students at 7:30 am - thank you for not dropping your children off before 7:30 without making prior arrangements. We cannot guarantee that a staff member will be here to supervise until 7:30 am. Also, remember to stagger your arrivals at dismissal. We will not start putting kids into cars until 3:15, so there isn't a need to come early!

Over the summer your student(s) may have visited the doctor's office and received
immunization shots
. If your student did get a booster over the summer please let
the office
know so we can update their student records. All students need to have all
required shots or a medical or non-medical exemption to stay enrolled
before February 2020, prior to the state exclusion day.

Please mark your calendars for Thursday, September 19th for our Back to School Night! We will share info on curriculum, a strategic plan, events, and fundraising for the year ahead. We hope that each family can send at least one parent to represent your family to be informed on the very latest happenings at TRCS! Please note, this is a parent only event - no students please!
