A look at the ongoing recovery efforts around the county

Post-storm repairs in unincorporated Pinellas

Pinellas County is actively working to help our residents get back on their feet while following guidelines that will protect our community from future harm. The County has waived fees and expedited permits in unincorporated areas for repairs following this year’s hurricanes. If you live in a flood hazard area and your home was damaged, your home is part of the County’s Substantial Damage Assessment Process. This is a process the federal government requires all cities and counties that participate in the National Flood Insurance Program to follow. Check out this video for more information on this process or visit our website.

Remember: If you hire an unlicensed contractor or try to get work done without permits, you may end up with shoddy workmanship and be required to undo the work or pay fines. Check the contractor’s license.

Latest on debris pickup

Pinellas County crews and contractors have collected more than 260,000 cubic yards of storm debris so far as they work to cleanup our unincorporated communities. Crews are out right now in each of our unincorporated areas moving as quickly as possible to get to you. Track our progress online now.

If you're waiting, make sure your debris is in the necessary piles so pickup can move as quickly as possible. If you live in a city or municipality, connect with your city or municipality for the latest on your collection timeline.

Some parks, trails and amenities remain closed as rangers continue cleanup. If you find an issue at one of our parks, please tell a park ranger.

Animal Services reuniting pets with their families

Since hurricanes Helene and Milton impacted our county, the staff at Pinellas County Animal Services has reconnected more than 250 pets with their families, including this heartwarming cat reunion. Animals lost during this time are being held at the shelter longer than normal to give owners who lost their pet as much time as possible to reunite. If you lost your pet during either of the storms, see if they're at our shelter.
