Tuesday Evening Picnics at Compo Beach

Continue As Long As Weather Allows

Y's Men picnics at Compo Beach every Tuesday evening will continue as long as the weather allows.

Arranged by Y's Man Jon Fox, the gatherings take place on South Beach "642 feet to the right of the cannons." Beach stickers are not required. Tell them at the entrance that you are attending the Y's Men picnic. It begins about 4:30 to 5:00 pm. Bring your own chairs, finger food, and your choice of beverage perhaps to share (no glass containers are allowed).

If weather is bad (too hot, too cold, rainy), Jon says, "Stay home. Otherwise, just come and enjoy." If additional information is needed, contact Jon at 203-227-2679.

Thursday Gatherings at Sherwood Island

Join us Thursday mornings for coffee, donuts, bagels, and conversation from 9:00 to 10:00 am now through August 29 at the Sherwood Island Pavilion. No reservations are needed. Just show up and enjoy the free refreshments and conversation.

Following the social hour, an optional walking group forms up to tour Sherwood Island.

Special thanks to the Y's Men team that brings the refreshments. They are Al Landis, Bob Israely, Brian Baxendale, Lou Rolla, and Dick Kalt. Baxter Urist is the organizer of the Thursday morning socials.

Almost 75 Percent of Beach Bash Tickets Are Gone…

Act Fast – Buy Now!

Almost 75 percent of the tickets available for the Y’s Men 2024 End of Summer Beach Bash have been sold. Event organizers urge that you act fast to purchase tickets for yourself and your significant other for the Bash on Tuesday, September 10, from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm at the Jacky Durrell Pavilion at Fairfield Town Beach.

The Pavilion is an open air covered facility with a deck opening out to the beach with ample tables and seating. Check it out at Jackie Durrell Pavilion.

The Beach Bash promises to be bigger and better this year. There will be a fully catered barbecue including wine and beer with a band. There also will be door prizes, dancing, best Hawaiian shirt contest, a Danceathon, Rock & Roll Trivia, and perhaps a Hula Hoop contest.

Limited to 100 people, the Bash is selling out quickly as it did last year. The cost is $55.00 per person.

Click the Pay Now button below to sign up and pay by credit card. You can also pay by check made out to the Y’s Men of Westport/Weston. Mail payments to Y’s Men of Westport/Weston, Box 167, Westport 06881-0167.

Volunteer help is needed for checking in attendees and for bar tending. No heavy work or clean up is involved. Let Dewey Loselle know if you can help.

Because the pavilion is covered, the Bash will be held rain or shine.

To volunteer, or for any questions, contact Dewey Loselle at DeweyLoselle@gmail.com or 203 454-4171.

Have You Seen Changes to the Y's Men Website? Here's How to Access "Members Only" Information

Some important changes have been made to the Y's Men website. In the past, to view members only info, we all used the same username, 'canny.' Now we can log in with our own credentials.

If you have yet to login and don't have a password, or If you forgot your password, follow these instructions.

Go to the members only login page of the website by clicking on any menu item under the Members Only tab, enter the email address you use to receive newsletters. Select the Forgot Password link. You will be asked again for your email address. An email will be sent to you which will allow you to add/update your password. Sometimes it takes a few minutes to get the email. When you get it, go to the link provided and enter a secure password. Keep it in a safe place. If you forget your password, you can again click Forgot Password.

Once you've logged in, navigate to Manage Account (blue text on the home page) and click on it. Here you can edit the demographic info we have for you. Go to the option "Profile Image" in the left sidebar. If there is no photo of you and if you're game and if you have a selfie (photo) of yourself, you can upload it. After you upload be sure to hit save.

If you'd prefer to have the photo uploaded for you, please get in touch with Allan Siegert (membership@ysmenwestportweston.org). He may already have a photo of you to use and if you'd prefer, he or someone on the membership team will do it for you.

Current Events Discussion Group Meets This Tuesday

A new Current Events Discussion Group will hold its first meeting this Tuesday, August 20 at The Westport Library according to the Group's organizer Y's Man Tony Pranzo. The Group will discuss current events in the United States focusing on the economy, politics, and society.

Tony envisions a small group at first – about five or six Y’s Men, so that everybody has a say – that eventually might grow to several groups each discussing specialized topics.

The meetings would last about one hour. Tony will provide a list of suggested topics.

For additional information, contact Tony by email at tpranzo@yahoo.com or text message at 203-503-7150.

Rescheduled Sunset Cruise - Well Worth the Wait

Y's Men and their guests enjoyed a beautiful evening aboard the SoundWaters, an 80-foot, three-masted ship designed in the style of a 19th-century Chesapeake Bay schooner.

The ship sailed from Stamford Harbor last Thursday. Bad weather previously had forced the sailing day to be changed. The evening was spectacular and a great time was had by all.
