Weekly Chamber News & Events
26th April 2021
Fellow Members,

The re-opening of our businesses is a welcome sight and the Chamber are now in a position to re-launch the shop local scheme.
Please contact our Marketing team for more information and details of how to join.

The scheme is reliant on member participation and donations and whilst we respect that It has been a very tough year for all of your businesses if you feel able to donate a prize for the monthly draw please let us know.

While we are pleased to see the rules being relaxed we must stress the need to stick to the advice from Government and our continued support for social distancing and minimal contact wherever possible.
The roadmap out of lockdown third stage is due to be implemented no earlier than May 17th when it's hoped:

  • People can meet in groups of up to 30 outdoors
  • Six people or two households can meet indoors
  • Domestic overnight stays allowed with people not in your household or bubble
  • Pubs, restaurants and other hospitality venues can seat customers indoors
  • Up to 30 people can attend weddings or other life events, like christenings
  • Remaining outdoor entertainment, such as outdoor theatres and cinemas can open
  • Indoor entertainment such as museums, theatres, cinemas and children's play areas can open
  • Performances and large events can restart, but with limits on audience numbers
  • Hotels, hostels and B&Bs can reopen
  • International leisure travel may resume
  • Adult indoor group sports and exercise classes can restart

This will only be possible if the indication on control of the virus remains positive and it is in the interests of all to follow the advice, please check the Governments website regularly for updates.

Board Directorship:
The chamber have space for new directors to join the board, if you know of someone who may be interested or are interested yourself in becoming a director please let Jackie Adams Jackie.Adams@molevalleychamber.co.uk know by email.

Wednesday 28th April - 07:30 to 09:00 - Virtual Sales Training 3
Without a defined process, it can be difficult to determine the right way to go about doing any activity. A sales process is important as it ensures that the most appropriate activities are completed while unnecessary or unhelpful activities are ignored.
Building a sales process requires a definition of each of the main stages and its purpose. The main activities in that stage are then defined, including any information that needs to be gathered. Metrics should be defined that can be used to track progress and measure performance.
This session will look at some simple sales processes and the types of activities that go into each stage of the process.

Transform Housing and Support were guest speakers at this weeks networking breakfast and as Chamber members we would like to do all we can to support them and the fantastic work they do. They also have incredibly innovative ways of fundraising which we'd love as many of you as possible to support in one way or another.

FIRSTLY - By way of a bit of healthy competition and to give us all a way to show what our companies are made of we'd like at least 10 members to get involved in the £50 Corporate Challenge. The concept is simple, your company is given £50 and five months (from 1st May) to turn the start up investment into as much money as you can for charity. There are some absolutely brilliant ways of doing this on their website and we'd love as many of our members to get involved as possible. More information on this HERE.

IF YOU DO WANT TO SIGN UP PLEASE LET US KNOW ASAP by emailing marketing@molevalleychamber.co.uk.
We will promote this on our website and keep a tally of funds raised as we go.

If this doesn't appeal, there are other ways in which you can help out...

On July 10th they are hosting a 'Sleep Out at Home' event which they are trying to recruit 200 people to take part in. Full details can be found on their website or the information pack HERE.

And finally, for the fitter and more physically minded of us they are encouraging participation in this year's Surrey Hill Challenge, for those who like running or walking. Details HERE.
Although flexibility is the watchword and guidance will be provided throughout, confirmation has been received that the Heritage Open Days festival will go ahead in September. Registration is open and we encourage as many as possible to take part. There are options to host both online and in-person events between the 10th and 19th September. The theme is optional but there is a fantastic resource pack available HERE for inspiration.
Full details are to be found HERE.
Mole Valley District Council have updated their guidance when it comes to the use of outdoor structures within the hospitality trade. Full advice can be found HERE. Advice on indoor hospitality will be provided soon.

Supported by Surrey Chamber of Commerce we wanted to draw your attention to this year's Grow Your Business Show which was postponed from last Autumn to 7th September 2021.
