URBAN MEYER'S WIFE CHOOSES FORGIVENESS

What it is: In a sports-cancellation saga, Shelley Meyer, wife of the Jacksonville Jaguars' head coach, has decided to publicly forgive her husband for the compromising footage that went viral earlier this month.

Why it's a good reminder: After the Jaguars' 4th loss in a row, head coach Urban Meyer went to a bar and let himself get dragged onto the dance floor by a young blonde who was not his wife. Footage was uploaded to Twitter, and soon the sports world was in an uproar.

After two weeks of "hate, vitriol, slander, and trash" sent her family's way, Shelley decided to delete her Twitter account - but not before posting a final message: "We all make mistakes - we are all sinners. If you think you aren't? Then cast the first stone". She makes a good point; though "cancel culture" can play an important role in holding powerful people accountable, it can be easy for spectators to forget that such public sins are more than likely in our own hearts too.

INFORMATIONAL
ANONYMOUS TIP LINE
SPEAK Up! By texting or calling the statewide hotline 844-SAFEROH to report anything that is suspicious or endangering you, your friends or your school.

Governor Mike DeWine established the Ohio School Safety Center (OSSC) in August 2019 to support schools, first responders, and communities in preventing, preparing for, and responding to threats and acts of violence, including self-harm. One of the resources that the OSSC administers is the Safer Ohio School Tip Line.

Victimizations, bullying, and other disorders such as drug and alcohol use are often not reported directly to school authorities or event to parents and guardians. Oftentimes this is because students do not want to be identified, do not want a friend or classmate in trouble, or do not know how or where to report these threats.

The Safer Ohio School Tip Line helps bridge that gap and enables information to be shared by students to law enforcement and school officials, even outside of the school day.
