Summer begins June 20th! Event highlights for the week ahead in & around #StockbridgeMA (June 20 -26)

Tanglewood Music Festival Popular artist series kicks off with Top Gun: Maverick in Concert. Featuring music by Harold Faltermeyer, Lady Gaga and Hans Zimmer, with the score produced by Lorne Balfe. (June 20, 8pm), A Prairie Home Companion. After a national tour in celebration of the 50th anniversary of Garrison Keillor’s A Prairie Home Companion, APHC is pleased to again be taking the stage at Tanglewood — always a favorite stop and the site of 17 of the show’s national broadcasts. Joining Garrison are music director Rich Dworsky and the band, the Royal Academy of Radio Actors (Tim Russell, Sue Scott, and sound-effects wizard Fred Newman), and guest performers too. Chesterwood “Arts Alive” Ian Spencer Bell dances Isadora Duncan. Choreographer and poet Ian Spencer Bell will present a program within Daniel Chester French’s historic Studio that features a pair of 1904 Isadora Duncan works, set to live music by pianist Lauren Aloia. Bell will also premier a new piece “Two Impromptus” inspired by intensive training with Sanakai Juku, a butoh dance troupe in Japan (June 19 & 20, 5:30-6:30pm) plus FREE Community Ice Cream Social for Children (June 22, 3pm) | Stockbridge, MA
Norman Rockwell Museum Summer Saturdays for Family, a fun and interactive programming inspired by the art of Norman Rockwell and Walter Wick, creator of the I SPY books for children. Berkshire Botanical Garden Summer Bird Walks (June 20, 8:30am), Family Fridays, Drag of the Berkshires Story hour. Bringing literacy and diversity to the Berkshires through dynamic storytelling! Drag Story Hour captures the imagination and playfulness of childhood and gives kids glamorous, positive, and unabashedly queer role models. In spaces like this, kids can see people who defy rigid gender restrictions and imagine a world where everyone can be their authentic selves! Mahaiwe Performing Arts Center rock band Los Lobos Beyond the accolades, and the source of it all, is heart. Los Lobos have dedicated their off-stage time to helping others, working for peace and justice. Their compositions have transformed the hard cries from the East L.A. barrio into songs of hope, tales of common folk finding ways to endure.

Shakespeare & Company 48th season begins with the World Premiere of The Victim by Lawrence Goodman featuring Annette Miller. Three women: A successful New York doctor whose racial diversity training has gone horribly wrong; a health aide grappling with racism during the COVID-19 pandemic, and a Holocaust survivor facing her own horror, and finding her way back to love and healing. Who gets to call herself a victim? Who is the perpetrator? “The Victim” is about identity, our blindness to others, and the human capacity for cruelty and compassion. (June 19 - July 20) |Lenox, MA

Ventfort Hall Mansion and Gilded Age Museum Summer Season of Tea & Talk, The Story of Festival House: The story of culture and inclusive community during the Festival House era at Ventfort Hall 1950 – 1961, presented by Chelsea Gaia, Director of Programming and Events at Ventfort Hall (June 24, 4pm), Ghost Tour with Robert Oakes (June 21, 7pm), Tarot 101, Step into the world of Tarot with an introductory workshop led by Chelsea Gaia, the mansion’s director of programming and events.
