Welcome to the Week of February 7, 2021
Dear Families,
As the third quarter flies by, we are reminded that in a few short months our beloved Seniors will complete their studies at Great Hearts Irving and commence to new, great adventures. While this year has stolen many opportunities for our first graduating class to participate in senior traditions, we are able to send them on a senior trip to the Texas Hill Country next month. We are asking your help in raising funds for their trip! We have partnered with a local plant nursery to cultivate and beautify your garden while simultaneously supporting our first senior class. Join us at Chipotle on 635 & Belt Line Rd. Tuesday, February 16th between 5 and 9pm for Spirit Night! See the flyer below for how to make your orders count toward GHI.

Senior Trip Flower Fundraiser

Please consider buying a few flats of flowers to both cultivate your garden and support our first graduating class! Use the link below for more information! Orders are due no later than February 14th, and will be delivered in March!
Lunch with the College Counselor

On February 22nd, parents are invited to join Mrs. Fitzgerald, Director of GHTX College Counseling, for the monthly virtual lunch about all things college. This month's topic is finding the right college fit. Parents will learn more about how to support their student in effective ways to research colleges and tips for determining academic and financial fit. After a short presentation, Mrs. Fitzgerald will take questions. Please RSVP HERE. A Zoom link will be sent 24 hours before the event.
Introduction to College Night

Freshmen and Sophomore students and their parents are invited to attend our Introduction to College Night on Tuesday, February 23 at 6:30pm. Topics will include the value of summer programs, college visits, the importance of building a resume, standardized testing, and how college counselors will support college bound students and their families throughout high school. Please let us know you are coming by filling out this RSVP form. A Zoom link will be sent out 24 hours before the event.
NHS Tutoring for Middle School

Our National Honor Society scholars are offering tutoring for middle school students in Literature, Math, and Latin second semester. Tutoring will be available by appointment on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:40-4:10pm on campus and via zoom for distance learners.

If you would like your middle school child to receive tutoring either in person or online, please complete an interest form below.

Spirit Event at Our Place

Our Place has generously offered to donate a percentage of all proceeds from Great Hearts families through the end of the school year! Simply drop your receipts from dine-in and carry-out orders into the GHI Box and enjoy your meal! Find more details on the flyer below!
Substitute Teachers

Due to the current state of affairs, we anticipate an increased need for:
 
  1. Short and long-term substitutes
  2. Athenaeum teachers and assistants
  3. Teachers available to fill mid-year openings
