Welcome to the Week of November 15, 2020
Dear Families,
Thank you for your cooperation and patience as we navigate distance learning, again, as a whole community. For your convenience, below are the online schedules for each grade.
As a reminder, students are expected to show up to their zoom classes in uniform, including uniform sweaters if necessary and ties for high school gentleman. When they join a zoom class they should set their name as "Mr." or "Ms." followed by their sir name. Once in the zoom classroom, students must have their camera on. If unfamiliar names try to join the zoom class, they will not be admitted. If your child is having a hard time changing their name in zoom, please refer to the guides below.

A Closer Look
GHI Daily Attendance Class

The GHI Daily Attendance Class is used for tracking and reporting online attendance to the Texas Education Agency (TEA). 
Please remind your student(s) to complete the Daily Attendance question by 9:05am each school day.
Lunch with the College Counselor

On Wednesday, November 18th, parents are invited to join Mrs. Fitzgerald, Director of GHTX College Counseling, for the monthly virtual lunch about all things college. The topic for November is Scholarships. After a short presentation, Mrs. Fitzgerald will take questions.
Spirit Night At Lamberti's Ristorante

Join us on Wednesday, November 18 between 11am - 9pm at Lamberti's Ristorante for Spirit Night! A portion of the proceeds Lamberti's makes from Great Hearts Families will go back to Great Hearts Irving! This offer is good for dine-in and take-out, but not delivery.
NHS Toy Drive

The GHI National Honor Society is collecting toys for the Warren Center's Operation Santa 2020. The Warren Center serves students with disabilities. All toy donations need to be brought to school by Tuesday, December 1st. There will be a box in the school lobby to drop off your donation. For more information please see the flyer below. Thank you for your generosity!
Picture Day Rescheduled

Upper School Picture Day has been rescheduled for Wednesday, December 2!
On-Campus students will have their pictures taken in the morning, and Online students are invited to campus from 1-2:30 pm to get their pictures taken.

Open Enrollment Nov. 9 - Dec. 11

Open Enrollment is for your family if:
1. Your current Great Hearts student has a sibling whom you want to attend Great Hearts next school year.
2. You would like your currently enrolled Great Hearts student(s) to attend a different Great Hearts academy next school year. Click here for transfer eligibility requirements and process.
Texas Charter School Lobby
Texas Charter School Lobby Week

You are invited to attend Texas Charter School Lobby Week: a special virtual event to foster authentic relationships between the charter community and state lawmakers. Lobby Week will take place from December 7- December 11, 2020.

Lunch with the College Counselor

On Wednesday, December 2nd, parents of seniors are invited to join Mrs. Michelle Fitzgerald, Director of GHTX College Counseling for a virtual lunch about supporting students through the entire college application process. Topics to be discussed will include: acceptance decisions, financial aid, scholarships, and much more. After the presentation, Mrs. Fitzgerald will take questions.
Mustang Athletics

To do everything in our power to protect the health and welfare of the school community, we have made the call to cancel the remainder of the volleyball and cross country seasons.
