Welcome to the Week of January 24, 2021!
Thank you to all our families who were able to join the teachers in a conversation during conferences. Conferences are a time to recognize our scholars’ strengths and areas for growth. Together, we all want for our students to have success academically, physically, and morally.

Evaluations were sent home on Friday, January 22. In-person students should have brought these home in a sealed envelope and remote families should have received them in an email from your child's teacher. Please let your classroom teacher know if you have any questions.

The State of Texas 2019–20 School Report Card for Great Hearts Irving is now available. The report provides information concerning student performance on the State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness (STAAR®), as well as information on student enrollment, class size averages, and financial expenditures. Due to COVID-19, STAAR® assessments were cancelled for the 2019–20 school year. Therefore, several data points have not been updated, including STAAR® and academic growth data. The information contained in the School Report Card is required by state law and depends on whether the school is an elementary, middle, or high school. Please reach out to Ms. Finn with any questions.

As we nourish the souls of our scholars, we also want to thank our families for bringing in delicious meals each month to nourish our teachers. We are grateful for your generosity.

A Closer Look
Senior Trip Fundraising
The Senior Trip is a long-standing tradition at Great Hearts schools. This year, our Seniors will take a 5-day sojourn to the Texas Hill Country. To fundraise for this journey our Seniors are selling flowers from a local nursery. Please consider buying a few flats of flowers to both cultivate your garden and support our first graduating class!
Director of Academy Giving
Great Hearts Arlington is opening its doors to families this fall and looking for a skilled fundraiser, compelling storyteller, an exceptional communicator, and community building extraordinaire to fill the role of Director of Academy Giving. Please share the job posting with anyone you feel may be drawn to this key role with Great Hearts Arlington’s leadership team.
Community Investment
We ask you, our parents, to invest in the education of your child by contributing to the Community Investment Fund. Your participation is your way of giving back to the school and thanking our dedicated teachers for the passionate work they do. Our goal is for every family to participate in this very important program. No gift is too small. Every gift is the gift of a hero! Your gifts make a real, visible impact to the day-to-day lives of your children and their teachers. Our community's past contributions have helped pay for:

  • Tinting for our first-floor windows to save money on electric bills and provide additional safety;
  • Additional health safety, acrylic dividers on every desk, hand sanitizing stations placed all over the school, contactless thermometers purchased for regular checks, A/C system upgrade to medical grade air filters, masks and hand sanitizer for every classroom, 3 full-time cleaning staff;
  • Playground equipment upgrades, including a sport court, courtyard turf, new playground funded and to be installed soon, basketball hoops, and other sports equipment;
  • New water fountains installed with built-in water bottle dispensers; and
  • The many custom-made reproductions of the most beautiful paintings in history that now decorate our corridors.
