A Closer Look
COVID Counter

In the event that a teacher or student who attends school on campus tests positive for Covid-19, a key part of our response will be to inform families. All families of students in the section(s) with the positive case will be notified of the case by email on the same day (or the following day if the notification arrives after hours).

Additionally, we will notify the entire Great Hearts Irving community by updating the “Covid Counter” on our website. The counter may be found under the Parent Resources tab on the Great Hearts Irving homepage. This counter is not a running total, rather it states the current number of on campus scholars or teachers currently in quarantine with a positive case. It will be updated by 6pm on school days as needed. All positive cases will be quarantined until all requirements are met for their safe return.
Parent Support & Room Parents

Our teachers are working incredibly hard to manage both distance learning and on-campus learning. We want to make sure we are supporting them and thanking them, and we have many opportunities for you to help us do this! Please take a moment to fill out the Parent Volunteer Survey and Teacher Lounge TLC Sign Up.
Curriculum "Night" Online

Like many things, Curriculum "Night" will look a little different this year. Teachers will share a sample lesson they recorded during the first quarter. A link to these videos will be sent out Tuesday, October 6th at 7pm and will remain available through the evening of Thursday, October 8th.
Financial Aid Night

On Tuesday, October 6th from 7-8pm, 11th and 12th Grade students and parents are invited to attend our Financial Aid Night. We will hear from a Trinity University Financial Aid Officer who will explain the college financial aid process. Sign up now!
ESL Night

Our ESL program is a crucial part of our mission to provide a classical, liberal arts education in pursuit of truth, goodness, and beauty. Families of English Language Learners are invited to join us virtually on October 7 from 5:00-6:00pm. Contact our ESL Coordinator, Celeste Wheelock, with questions (celeste.wheelock@greatheartsirving.org).
Upper School Conferences

We have decided to dedicate Fall Break (October 18-23) to well-earned and much needed rest and relaxation and will not hold conferences as we have in the past. To respect our teachers’ time and to accommodate the concerns of families with a student who has earned a C or lower in at least one class, optional Parent-Teacher conferences will occur over Zoom in the afternoons of Friday 10/30 and Friday 11/6. More information and sign-ups will be forthcoming.
Quarter 2 Return to Campus Form

On Tuesday of last week, the Quarter 2 Return to Campus Form was sent to families of students participating in Distance Learning. Choosing online learning for Quarter 2 is binding until the end of the quarter (January 15, 2021). Families with students on campus can opt to switch to Distance Learning at any time, but then must remain in Distance Learning until the end of the quarter. Click the button below to view Tuesday's communication.
