"Faith in Complicated Political Times"

Wednesday, May 13, Rev. Dr. Mark Douglas—ordained minister in the Presbyterian Church (USA) and Professor of Christian Ethics at Columbia Theological Seminary will lead two engaging sessions on "Faith in Complicated Political Times".

Join the OLLI Brown Bag lunchtime talk (11:30am–1pm, Sunny Slope Annex) on “Christian Nationalisms, Social Media, and Public Religion,” exploring how digital media is reshaping religious narratives and what we might learn from another time when a revolution in media reshaped the religious landscape: the rise of printed material at the beginning of the Reformation.

Then, attend the evening workshop (5–6pm, First Presbyterian Church, Conway Hall) on “When Red and Blue Don’t Make Purple,” examining political dysfunction and how persons of faith might go forward not only in the face of our dysfunctions, but maybe in ways that diminish the chaos that such dysfunction creates. Light refreshments provided for the evening session.
