Session Notes
During its meeting on November 16, the Session…
• learned that the church’s income for October was $50,038; expenses, $72,902; and net income, (minus) $22,864; and for January through October, income was $689,935; expenses, $705,692; and net income, (minus) $15,757;
• approved three policies constructed by our church’s Policy Task Force to meet the Book of Order (G-30106) requirement for policies governing sexual misconduct, harassment, and child and youth protection, and received a draft of a racial equity policy;
• learned that the church has sent a letter of appreciation to the City of Auburn for the Gay Street Improvement Project and approved sending a letter to JLD Enterprises for completion of the site work at the front entrance to the sanctuary;
• approved a congregational meeting for November 30, following the 11:00 a.m. worship service, to elect a trustee for the Class of 2028 and the nominating committee for 2026;
• approved nine communion dates for 2026;
• approved a Major Gifts Campaign to be held in early 2026, to focus on (a) repaying the Presbyterian Investment and Loan Program, (b) making improvements to Baird Hall, (c) updating outdoor signage; and (d) growing the FPC Capital Replacement Fund for maintenance needs anticipated for the next five to ten years—with a goal between $400,000 and $500,000, depending on bids from contractors; and
• learned that the sanctuary roof will be installed after Thanksgiving and that painting in the sanctuary and other locations will be completed in the spring.

During its meeting on December 23, the Session…
• conducted examinations of seven elders in the Class of 2028 and sustained their installation: Billy Carter, Karen Delano, Barbara Fletcher, Joe Garrett, Katy Hall, Daniel Hancock, and Nathan Steele;
• learned that the ordination and installation of these ruling elders will be held during the 11:00 a.m. worship service on January 4, 2026;
• learned that the church’s income for November was $53,522; expenses, $47,364; and net income, $6,158; and for January through November, income was $743,457; expenses, $753,056; and net income, (minus) $9,599;
• approved the racial equity policy, completing the process for local churches to meet the Book of Order (G-3.0106) requirement for such policies, in addition to policies on sexual misconduct, harassment, and child and youth protection, approved earlier;
• learned that Jeff Yost will be the Session Representative and Liaison to the Property Funding Sources Task Force, which will also include Mary Baird, Marianne Parsons, Staci Sarkowski, and Addy Steele;
• learned that 105 pledging units have pledged $735,630 toward the goal of $851,274; and
• heard a report on the November 20 meeting of the Presbytery at Edgewood Presbyterian Church in Birmingham.
