Rev. Elizabeth Goodrich, Guest Preacher May 25

We are grateful to have as worship leader this Sunday the Rev. Elizabeth Cole Goodrich, a minister member of the Presbytery of Sheppards and Lapsley, and a co-owner of Thank You Books in Birmingham. Elizabeth is an active community and Presbytery volunteer, and is the newly-elected Chairperson of the Board of Trustees of Columbia Theological Seminary. She and her husband, Mike, have three children, Catherine (22), Gibson (20), and Andrew (15). They are members of First Presbyterian Church in Birmingham.

Rev. Goodrich was a regular presence in our pulpit during the Reeds' sabbatical in the summer of 2021 and we are happy to welcome her back!

Pardon Our Progress!

Over the next several weeks exciting improvements will be made to the entrance of our sanctuary. During this time the doors facing Thach Ave. will not be available (though in the case of an emergency, these doors are accessible.)

Please enter the sanctuary through the side door facing the courtyard or the breezeway leading to the Gay St. parking lot.

Many thanks to our Property Committee volunteers and church staff for the time and energy being invested in these projects!

Parking Lot Access on May 28-31

The contractors plan to be working on the Gay Street entrance to our parking lot on Wednesday, May 28 through Saturday, May 31. During that time the only means of accessing our parking will be through the Thach Avenue entrance. PLEASE BE CAUTIOUS as the normally one-way entrance will need to be both an entrance AND AN EXIT during this time. This means traffic will be coming around the corner at the playground from both directions - go slowly and be vigilant! Parking will be more limited than usual, so it's even more important to only use our lot for church business. Thank you.

Our Youth Are Working Hard to Tackle Hunger!

Let's give a huge Thank You to our Jr. and Sr. High Youth for their efforts to help with food insecurity.

Last November our youth teamed up with the Mission Committee and made the commitment to donate all of the parking proceeds from the last Auburn football home game to the Community Market Building Campaign. Because of our young people's efforts we were able to send a check for $1,970 to help with their new building.

Then in February our youth participated in the Souper Bowl of Caring. Their work and your generosity made it possible for us to send a donation of $1210 to the Food Bank of East Alabama.

Lastly, each Sunday morning during the Sunday school hour the Jr. and Sr. High youth make sure the Blessing Box is stocked full of non-perishable food for our neighbors in need.

It is so wonderful to see our youth take seriously God's call to love and care for all of God's people! Thanks be to God!
