ART & MUSEUM EXHIBITS
Thru Apr 7 | 10:00 am - 6 pm | Colorado Springs fine Arts Center| Gen. Adm.
Letterpress printer Amos P. Kennedy, Jr. will be teaching a 9-day letterpress workshop at The Press at Colorado College in January of 2019. The workshop will be an open-ended experiment in the public, collaborative nature of letterpress printing. According to Amos, this show will be: “A lot of sheets of paper with ink on them. These sheets of paper are evidence of the process of making unintentional marks intentional.” The workshop and exhibition at the FAC are part of a year-long celebration of the 40th anniversary of The Press at Colorado College.

Thru May 19 | 10:00 am - 6 pm | Denver Art Museum | Gen. Adm.
See how animals have captivated artists throughout history in Stampede: Animals in Art. This cross-departmental exhibition brings together more than 300 objects from the Denver Art Museum’s collection to explore the presence of animals in art throughout centuries and across cultures.
Stampede creates an opportunity for visitors to discover and consider the role animals play through themes such as personal connections with animals, how animal materials have been used in art, how animals are used to tell stories or represent political ideas, and how artists use animals in imaginative ways. It includes visitor favorites such as a four-faced Hamat's Mask, Deborah Butterfield’s horse sculptures, artworks by Frederic Remington and Georgia O’Keeffe, as well as rarely seen works.

Thru May 26 | 10:00 am - 6 pm | Museum of Contemporary Art | Gen. Adm.
Aftereffect: Georgia O'Keeffe and Contemporary Painting brings together a select group of artists whose work resonates with that of Georgia O'Keeffe. From her formal innovations, to her ambition to transcribe her ideas and emotions, to her distinctive approach to abstraction and the landscape of New Mexico, O'Keeffe's legacy is identifiable in the work of several generations of painters. These artists share her interest in capturing what Jerry Saltz refers to as the "objective and subjective all at once." That is, in their art, the physical world is neither subjected to, nor victorious over the imagination of the artist, but rather, the two are continuously at play.

Thru May 26 | 10:00 am - 6 pm | Longmont Museum | Gen. Adm.
The Ansel Adams: Early Works exhibit at the Longmont Museum focuses on the photographer’s masterful small prints taken earlier in his career, from the 1920s into the 1950s.
By capturing the abject power of nature, Adams changed our understanding of landscape photography, solidifying it as a legitimate form of modern art.

Thru Aug 16 | 10:00 am - 6 pm | CU South Denver | Gen. Adm.
In the wild world around us, everything is connected. Curious Connections in Nature delves into these connections through hands-on activities, multi-media displays and specimens from the Museum's collection.
The exhibition highlights symbiosis in our bodies, our backyards and beyond.
Discover the role of the prairie dog in Colorado's grasslands. Learn about the microbes we host in our bodies. Explore the amazing world of lichens, diatoms, and much more. The scientists who study these animals are profiled in the exhibit and you can learn about their important work.

Thru Dec 9 | 10:00 am - 6 pm | Denver Museum of Nature & Science | Gen. Adm.
Volcanoes tower 80,000 feet above a barren surface. Monstrous hurricanes rage for 400 years. And multicolored rings sit suspended in air.
In Cosmic Journey: A Solar System Adventure, you'll travel through our solar system faster than the speed of light, taking in the wonders of the planets and their moons.

Thru Dec 12 | 10:00 am - 6 pm | Denver Museum of Nature & Science | Gen. Adm.
There's a place from which nothing escapes, not even light, where time and space literally come to end. It's at this point, inside this fantastic riddle, that black holes exert their sway over the cosmos … and our imaginations.
In this Museum-produced show, zip through other-worldly wormholes, experience the creation of the Milky Way Galaxy, and witness the violent death of a star and subsequent birth of a black hole. Mathematical equations, cutting-edge science, and Einstein's theories fill in holes along the way, providing the most complete picture yet on this mysterious phenomenon. Can you feel the pull?

Thru Dec 31 | 10:00 am - 6 pm | Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center | Gen. Adm.
The art works presented in three galleries highlight some of the most celebrated work by indigenous and Latina/o artists in the FAC’s permanent collection. Within an overall chronological flow, the galleries focus on three periods of time spanning over 150 years: mid-19th Century, 1930s, and late 20th century to the present. This exhibition explores individual stylistic movements, artists, and topics such as colonial encounters, art markets, and creative innovation, among other subjects. Art works in these galleries will be periodically rotated in an effort to feature a wide range of artworks from the FAC’s extensive collection.

Have you ever watched an episode of Seinfeld, Friends, The Big Bang Theory, or pretty much any modern half an hour sitcom and wondered, how do they do it? Look no further to something called “The Harold”.
Since the rise of improv comedy, the long-form structure, “The Harold” has been a major staple. The Committee, a San Francisco improv group, performed the first Harold in Concord, California, in 1967. The form was further developed by improv teachers Del Close and Charna Halpern, as well as the Upright Citizens Brigade. It’s considered especially fulfilling for performers and audiences alike, because of the structure. In it, performers on spontaneously come up on the spot with three acts (or “beats”), each with three scenes and a group segment. With each beat, the three scenes return. By the end of the performance, the three scenes have converged and are connected.
Tantrum presents: Harold Night at the Voodoo is a celebration of teams new and old dedicated to this form, or veteran improvisers who want to brush up on a Harold. At every show, you’ll see unique, spontaneous, and hilarious Harolds!

WRY, WITTY, CUNNING, AND CRASS Detroit native Mike Stanley is all of these things, but none, when put on paper, quite manage to serve the justice dealt by Stanley onstage. Yeah, he's pretty hilarious, but more than just coarse anecdotes about life and sex, there's an enviable amount of heart and warmth behind Stanley's humor.
Given his penchant toward brutal honesty, spiced up with a healthy dose of insatiable wit, it's not difficult to see why Stanley was named “Best Chicago Stand-up Comedian” in a Peoples Choice poll done by the Chicago Reader and “Best Detroit Comedian” by HOUR Magazine. Mike has appeared in The Just For Laughs Comedy Festival, The Adam Corrola Show and Funny or Die's Odd Ball Comedy Fest. Mike has had the pleasure of performing with many great comedians including Jerry Seinfeld, Robin Williams, Al Madrigal, Jim Gaffigan, Bill Burr, Dave Attell, Doug Stanhope, Larry Miller, Andy Kindler, Artie Lange, Christopher Titus, and many more.
Originally hailing from Motown, and after spending a decade honing his craft in the windy city of Chicago, Mike tours constantly, both domestically and internationally. Don't miss out on an incredible opportunity to catch the man in action - this high level of killer stand-up is too remarkable to sit out.

“In spite of everything, I still believe that people are really good at heart.”
Thirteen-year-old Anne Frank wrote to understand herself and the horrors of being Jewish in Nazi-occupied Amsterdam. In doing so she created one of the most powerful stories of the 20th century. Her diary was the one place for privacy in her attic hiding place. It holds her fears, her hopes, her laughter, her grief. Her belief that “in spite of everything, people are truly good at heart” has moved readers for more than seventy years. In Wendy Kesselman’s adaptation we meet the full Anne; imperfect, funny, longing to become a woman and hopeful for a future she will never see.Genre: Drama

A dark comedy with a sharp sense of the absurd.
Two sisters and a depressed Mastiff dog live out their lives on the bleak English moors. The women spend their days dreaming of love and power until the arrival of a hapless governess and a moor-hen set all three on a wild new path. Playwright Jen Silverman turned the world of the Bronte sisters on its head, in a humorous (and subversive) story about love and desperation.

The going may be rough, but the St. Claire sisters won’t let a host of dingy Storyville denizens—an overly-protective older brother, a rakish rover, and a disgruntled gangster’s moll—stand in their way as they discover their destinies and ultimately find love. Over the course of an hour, you'll inspire the twists and turns your encounter will take, and by the simple act of being yourself, your rendezvous will be unlike any other. Don't miss the once-in-a-lifetime chance to look a story in the face and become a part of it yourself.
Be it by fate or chance, the path of your journey lies in a shuffle. As you have your cards interpreted by a guide, you'll open your eyes to the ways your path has led you to this moment and the events where a single choice could change your future. Bring a small token from your life that you would like to pass on to another audience member at the end of the experience.

The Public
PG-13 | 2 Hours 2 Minutes|Drama
In "The Public" an unusually bitter Arctic blast has made its way to downtown Cincinnati and the front doors of the public library where the action of the film takes place. At odds with library officials over how to handle the extreme weather event, some homeless patrons turn the building into a shelter for the night by staging an "Occupy" sit in. What begins as an act of civil disobedience becomes a stand-off with police and a rush-to-judgment media constantly speculating about what's really happening. This David versus Goliath story tackles some of our nation's most challenging issues, homelessness and mental illness and sets the drama inside one of the last bastions of democracy-in-action: your public library.
