Liminal Space is a transitional or transformative space. A waiting area between one point in time and space and the next. Just like how our cultures and communities are diverse and varied, so too is the beautiful, enchanting and creative history of art. Thankfully being Latino isn't just a singular experience and in this exhibition you will see how these creative local artists are taking the knowledge and tradition of the past and its experiences and transforming our perceptions about cultural interpretations and identities into something that is new and original.
In this exhibition, the artists and their creative vision represent a basis of exploration for the audience's own Liminal Space, through which they develop a sense of their own experience and interpretation. It is easy to fall under the illusion that looking at art is a simple thing. However, the work in this show is not about what are you looking at but what is it you see.

Absurd and creative, this show is a truly unique experience. Alternative Denver comedians perform improvised sketch comedy with a format and content that change from show to show. Each performance, the audience is transported into an alternate dimension of reality inhabited by characters and creatures that delight and disgust. Phantasmagoria combines elements of comedy, drama, and horror to create a genre all its own.
Previous shows have seen a motivational speaker who has escaped from a dumpster to confront his kidnapper (another motivational speaker of the same name), talk show hosts who become demonically possessed and perform a ritual sacrifice, and a touching coming-of-age musical about a tweenage girl where the audience was collectively tasked with playing the role of the girl’s mother. The only thing audiences can expect is a night of humor, horror, and hedonism.

WRY, WITTY, CUNNING, AND CRASS Detroit native Mike Stanley is all of these things, but none, when put on paper, quite manage to serve the justice dealt by Stanley onstage. Yeah, he's pretty hilarious, but more than just coarse anecdotes about life and sex, there's an enviable amount of heart and warmth behind Stanley's humor.
Given his penchant toward brutal honesty, spiced up with a healthy dose of insatiable wit, it's not difficult to see why Stanley was named “Best Chicago Stand-up Comedian” in a Peoples Choice poll done by the Chicago Reader and “Best Detroit Comedian” by HOUR Magazine. Mike has appeared in The Just For Laughs Comedy Festival, The Adam Carolla Show and Funny or Die's Odd Ball Comedy Fest. Mike has had the pleasure of performing with many great comedians including Jerry Seinfeld, Robin Williams, Al Madrigal, Jim Gaffigan, Bill Burr, Dave Attell, Doug Stanhope, Larry Miller, Andy Kindler, Artie Lange, Christopher Titus, and many more.

ShresthaNabin Shrestha, a renowned face among Coloradans, is a classical tabla virtuoso of the highest order, his consistently brilliant and exciting performances have not only established him as one of the prominent musician in his own country, Nepal, but gained him worldwide fame.. His deep understanding of different traditional styles of tabla playing, tonal quality, clarity and ability to collaborate with different genres of music makes him different from regular percussionists and it’s no surprise that he’s the favorite accompanist for many musicians and dancers. Throughout Nabin’s early childhood, music has always been an essential part of his life and Tabla is the medium by which he was introduced to the world of music and rhythm. To this day, he still views himself as a continuing student in an ever expanding exploration of the beauty in musically interpreting dynamic rhythmic sounds while performing the Tabla. While pursuing his academic studies in music, Nabin was awarded an ICCR scholarship for his Masters degree which he completed with the highest score from Gandharva Music University in Delhi in the year 1998. During his stay in India he got the rare opportunity to further develop his knowledge with some of the greatest musical masters/gurus such as, Ustaad Shri Faiyaaz Khan and Shri Tansen Shrivastav. Upon completion of a Master’s Degree from Gandharva Nabin received an exceptional opportunity to further his musical studies under the guidance of the greatest tabla maestro of all time Taalmani Pandit Sureshji Talwalkar. Nabin had a successful career in Nepal as a performing and recording artist Some of his original albums are, Raaganubhuti (Hindustani Classical), Murchchhana(Jazz Fusion), Re-drums (Traditional Nepali Drums and Tabla). We usually go to a local restaurant and order a pitcher of margaritas (and sometimes food) and talk about everything: our husbands, kids, jobs, laundry, food, vacations, etc. And as I'm walking home – full of friendship, advice, and tequila – I feel great!
This is exactly how  Dena Blizzard 's one-woman show One Funny Mother  made me feel last Saturday night.

Boozy Take on the Bard’s Greatest Romance
Fans of Drunk History and all its slurred education will fall over laughing at Sh*t-Faced Shakespeare, where an entirely serious Shakespeare play is performed with one entirely inebriated cast member. For the last eight years, Sh*t-Faced Shakespeare has been performed in the darkest corners and diviest bars in the U.K., and the cast is now bringing the good time to Austin. Side-splitting, raucous and completely interactive, this show enjoyed sell-out runs at the Edinburgh and Brighton Fringe festivals, where a cast member drinks beer, wine and whiskey on stage, drunkenly sings the Dawson’s Creektheme song and occasionally (accidentally, of course) bares a nipple or two. Brush up on your Bard knowledge and head over to Spider House for a drunken twist on Romeo and Juliet, because this is Shakespeare as you never knew you wanted to see him before.

This play is not about my mother and me,” begins the character of Lisa. But, of course, it is about her mother, and her mother’s extraordinary ability to heal a changing neighborhood, despite her inability to heal herself. In this “solo show with people in it,” Kron asks the provocative question: “Do we create our own illness?” The answers she gets are much more complicated than she bargained for as the play spins dangerously out of control into riotously funny and unexpected territory.

We think that starlings do it for many reasons. Grouping together offers safety in numbers – predators such as peregrine falcons find it hard to target one bird in the middle of a hypnotising flock of thousands. They also gather to keep warm at night and to exchange information, such as good feeding areas.

A life-long, second-generation Beatles fan, Steve taught himself guitar at 10 listening to Beatles records and by 13 was fronting a Top 40 cover band in his native Philadelphia. At 17 he joined Beatlemania and further developed his musicianship, touring the world with the show. After 'passing the audition' with the existing RAIN band members in 1998, his career was set. On one of his travels to England, he found himself at Liverpool's Casbah Club, owned by pre-Ringo Beatles drummer Pete Best. Encouraged to get on stage, Steve belted out lead vocals to The Beatles rocker "Slow Down," while Best sat in on drums.
As a backup musician, Steve has performed alongside legendary sixties artists Peter Noone (Herman’s Hermits), Joey Molland (Badfinger), Mitch Ryder and the Detroit Wheels, and Tiny Tim. As an actor, he appeared in the films "Wedding Bell Blues," "For Which He Stands" and Tim Burton’s "Mars Attacks!" Steve writes and records his own original music.

Thru Jun 23 | Varies | Miners Alley Playhouse
Miners Alley Playhouse has commissioned award-winning playwright Josh Hartwell to write the compelling, untold, and true story of Mae Brussell, considered to be America’s first mainstream conspiracy theorist during the 1960's and 1970's. The one-time Queen of Conspiracy attracted an audience of thousands. Her radio shows analyzed public government records to link the JFK and RFK assassinations with the Watergate scandal. Loyal fans and celebrities looking to make sense of an increasingly complex, crazy world were hungry for Brussell's version of the truth. With humor and wit, Josh Hartwell's new drama, set in present-day Denver, imagines the family who inherits Brussell's legacy. The play also explores what a conspiracy is, and the difference between today's conspiracy theories and those of the past.

There, he meets a giant who would do anything to trade places with him. With the help of a wise-cracking hen and a self-absorbed cow, can all of their problems be solved?
Audience and actors meet at the Chautauqua Picnic Shelter and take a moderate hike on the Enchanted Mesa Trail while scenes from the play are performed along the way. Approximate length of the hike is two miles with an elevation gain of 400 feet.

Jazziz magazine writes that Nelson Rangell is “an artist of depth, a master of song, and an improviser non pareil.” The Times of London notes “his extraordinary facility on a range of instruments” and Rangell’s “considerable crowd pleasing power”. Saxophone Journal writes “He commands the alto saxophone with such authority there can be no denying that Rangell is a true artist,” and Flute Talk Magazine states “Nelson Rangell creates the impression that anything is possible when he improvises.” Such praise is a confirmation of what contemporary jazz fans have known since the Denver based saxophonist emerged in the late 80s: that Rangell is one of the most exciting and diverse performers in the genre, equally adept at soprano, alto, and tenor saxophone, as well as being a genuine virtuoso on flute and piccolo.
Nelson Rangell is the fourth child in a musical family. His brother, Andrew, is a well known concert pianist living in Boston; his brother, Bobby, lives in Paris and is a leading woodwind player in European jazz and studio scenes. His sister, Paula, is a professional singer living in New Orleans.
Rangell first played flute at the age of 15. Within months he was studying both classical and jazz music at The Interlochen Arts Academy, a national camp for gifted music students. He went on to attend The New England Conservatory of Music in Boston. As a student he twice won Down Beat Magazine’s prestigious National Student Recording Awards competition both as best jazz and best pop/rock instrumental soloist. After college he headed to New York in 1984 to pursue his career.
