Vanguard tattoo artist Amanda Wachob uses a tattoo machine and ink to create art on canvas, paper, silk, fruit, and leather, in addition to human bodies. Inspired largely by modern painting, in 2008, she pioneered a unique tattoo style incorporating brushstrokes, washes, paint splatters and spills, commonly referred to as "watercolor technique." During that time, she has also been using the tattoo machines and ink to push the boundaries of her field and make works for gallery walls. Wachob not only advances tattooing as an autonomous art form but also brings the medium into closer dialogue with the wider domain of art.

Thru May 19 | 10:00 am - 6 pm | Denver Art Museum | Gen. Adm.
See how animals have captivated artists throughout history in Stampede: Animals in Art. This cross-departmental exhibition brings together more than 300 objects from the Denver Art Museum’s collection to explore the presence of animals in art throughout centuries and across cultures.
Stampede creates an opportunity for visitors to discover and consider the role animals play through themes such as personal connections with animals, how animal materials have been used in art, how animals are used to tell stories or represent political ideas, and how artists use animals in imaginative ways. It includes visitor favorites such as a four-faced Hamat's Mask, Deborah Butterfield’s horse sculptures, artworks by Frederic Remington and Georgia O’Keeffe, as well as rarely seen works.

Thru May 26 | 10:00 am - 6 pm | Museum of Contemporary Art | Gen. Adm.
Aftereffect: Georgia O'Keeffe and Contemporary Painting brings together a select group of artists whose work resonates with that of Georgia O'Keeffe. From her formal innovations, to her ambition to transcribe her ideas and emotions, to her distinctive approach to abstraction and the landscape of New Mexico, O'Keeffe's legacy is identifiable in the work of several generations of painters. These artists share her interest in capturing what Jerry Saltz refers to as the "objective and subjective all at once." That is, in their art, the physical world is neither subjected to, nor victorious over the imagination of the artist, but rather, the two are continuously at play.

Thru May 26 | 10:00 am - 6 pm | Longmont Museum | Gen. Adm.
The Ansel Adams: Early Works exhibit at the Longmont Museum focuses on the photographer’s masterful small prints taken earlier in his career, from the 1920s into the 1950s.
By capturing the abject power of nature, Adams changed our understanding of landscape photography, solidifying it as a legitimate form of modern art.

Thru Jul 14 | 10:00 am - 6 pm | Kirkland Museum of Fine & Decorative Art | Gen. Adm.
Kirkland Museum is pleased to feature a retrospective of Barbara Locketz (1927–2017), whose artworks include oil paintings, prints, paper and metal collage, metal and acrylic sculpture, jewelry and textiles. She was a student of Vance Kirkland while completing her MA at the University of Denver and later taught there from 1964 to 1971. She exhibited her work throughout Colorado and the American Southwest, New York and Mexico.

Thru Aug 16 | 10:00 am - 6 pm | CU South Denver | Gen. Adm.
In the wild world around us, everything is connected. Curious Connections in Nature delves into these connections through hands-on activities, multi-media displays and specimens from the Museum's collection.
The exhibition highlights symbiosis in our bodies, our backyards and beyond.
Discover the role of the prairie dog in Colorado's grasslands. Learn about the microbes we host in our bodies. Explore the amazing world of lichens, diatoms, and much more. The scientists who study these animals are profiled in the exhibit and you can learn about their important work.

Thru Dec 9 | 10:00 am - 6 pm | Denver Museum of Nature & Science | Gen. Adm.
Volcanoes tower 80,000 feet above a barren surface. Monstrous hurricanes rage for 400 years. And multicolored rings sit suspended in air.
In Cosmic Journey: A Solar System Adventure, you'll travel through our solar system faster than the speed of light, taking in the wonders of the planets and their moons.

Thru Dec 12 | 10:00 am - 6 pm | Denver Museum of Nature & Science | Gen. Adm.
There's a place from which nothing escapes, not even light, where time and space literally come to end. It's at this point, inside this fantastic riddle, that black holes exert their sway over the cosmos … and our imaginations.
In this Museum-produced show, zip through other-worldly wormholes, experience the creation of the Milky Way Galaxy, and witness the violent death of a star and subsequent birth of a black hole. Mathematical equations, cutting-edge science, and Einstein's theories fill in holes along the way, providing the most complete picture yet on this mysterious phenomenon. Can you feel the pull?

Thru Dec 31 | 10:00 am - 6 pm | Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center | Gen. Adm.
The art works presented in three galleries highlight some of the most celebrated work by indigenous and Latina/o artists in the FAC’s permanent collection. Within an overall chronological flow, the galleries focus on three periods of time spanning over 150 years: mid-19th Century, 1930s, and late 20th century to the present. This exhibition explores individual stylistic movements, artists, and topics such as colonial encounters, art markets, and creative innovation, among other subjects. Art works in these galleries will be periodically rotated in an effort to feature a wide range of artworks from the FAC’s extensive collection.

Faizon Love grew up as a military brat; raised in San Diego and Newark, NJ. He got his
start as a stand-up comedian and made his acting debut Off-Broadway both at the age of
nineteen. He’s appeared on Def Comedy Jam, Shaq’s All Star Comedy Jam and Martin
Lawrence’s 1’st Amendment Comedy.
In his motion picture debut Bebe’s Kids, Faizon provided a dead on vocal impression of
legendary comedian Robin Harris, who died before production began on this animated
cult classic. That later led to a role in The Meteor Man starring Robert Townsend who
then cast Love in a co-starring role on his sitcom The Parent ‘Hood.
Faizon's breakout performance, however, was as Big Worm in the 1995 hit film Friday
(Ice Cube, Chris Tucker). Follow up films include Elf (Will Ferrell), Couples Retreat
(Vince Vaughn, Jon Favreau) Money Talks (Chris Tucker), Blue Crush, Tourque (Ice
Cube, Lawrence Fishburn), The Perfect Holiday (Charlie Murphy, Katt Williams), and
Big Mommas (Martin Lawrence). Evidencing his strong music ties, he’s also appeared in
Hip Hop driven films such as Idlewild (Outkast), and Who’s Your Caddy (Terry Crews,
Sherri Shepherd) as well as guested on Ludacris’ Freaky Thangs from the album Word
of Mouf.

Taylor Tomlinson has been featured on Netflix, The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Conan, MTV’s Safe Word, Comedy Central’s Adam Devine’s House Party, and was a top ten finalist on season 9 of NBC’s Last Comic Standing. She was recently honored by Variety Magazine at the Montreal Just for Laughs Comedy Festival as a “Top 10 Comic to Watch.”
Taylor started doing stand-up at just 16 years old and has been letting stand-up slowly ruin her life ever since. She is one of the country’s youngest touring headliners, delighting audiences coast-to-coast with her sharp crowd-work, biting wit, and wonderfully self-deprecating point of view.
Tomlinson co-hosts The Self-Helpless Podcast and can currently be seen on the first season of Netflix’s stand-up series The Lineup.

Mouse Couch takes an organic journey from the everyday to the fantastical — from teenage shenanigans on a tilt-o-whirl to the moon or from a dance contest to the inside of a T-Rex. They discover next idea in the moment and bring the audience along with them, one simple step at a time. The Mouse Couch philosophy is to play characters that love each other, use big physicality to inform choices/emotion and surrender to the group mind. Each show takes a unique form and plays with a unique theme, but it is always one hundred percent Mouse Couch.

“In spite of everything, I still believe that people are really good at heart.”
Thirteen-year-old Anne Frank wrote to understand herself and the horrors of being Jewish in Nazi-occupied Amsterdam. In doing so she created one of the most powerful stories of the 20th century. Her diary was the one place for privacy in her attic hiding place. It holds her fears, her hopes, her laughter, her grief. Her belief that “in spite of everything, people are truly good at heart” has moved readers for more than seventy years. In Wendy Kesselman’s adaptation we meet the full Anne; imperfect, funny, longing to become a woman and hopeful for a future she will never see.Genre: Drama

A dark comedy with a sharp sense of the absurd.
Two sisters and a depressed Mastiff dog live out their lives on the bleak English moors. The women spend their days dreaming of love and power until the arrival of a hapless governess and a moor-hen set all three on a wild new path. Playwright Jen Silverman turned the world of the Bronte sisters on its head, in a humorous (and subversive) story about love and desperation.

Thru May 19 | Varies |Arvada Center for the Arts & Humanities
This flirty, fun, feminist comedy is a bold new take on Aphra Behn’s restoration classic The Rover , adapted by Denver playwright Jessica Austgen. Helen, a novice nun, and Florie Mae, her nightclub singing sister, taken to the streets of 1916 New Orleans in a last-ditch effort to save their departed daddy’s dance club. The going may be rough, but the St. Claire sisters won’t let a host of dingy Storyville denizens—an overly-protective older brother, a rakish rover, and a disgruntled gangster’s moll—stand in their way as they discover their destinies and ultimately find love. Genre: Restoration Comedy

Our 'Kids Kabaret' shows are designed for children ages 3-12. We take pride in offering live theater for young children; understanding that they will wiggle and move around. Several children are incorporated into the show at each performance.
The shows are 45 minutes long, followed by a Q&A session with the actors. Children usually have a lot of questions and enjoy this time to talk directly to the actors that they just saw performing :-)

This revolutionary play changed theatrical history by unapologetically putting gay men’s lives onstage which had never been seen before in a realistic way.
This comic drama centers on a group of gay men gathering in a NYC apartment for a birthday party. After the drinks are poured and the music is turned up, the evening slowly exposes the fault lines beneath their friendships and the self-inflicted heartache that threatens their solidarity.

One actor. One audience member. Where will you take the story and where will the story take you?
A stranger is waiting to meet you. They're wandering around a museum, or serving you at a restaurant, or waiting for the bus. Instead of letting them pass through your periphery like so many others, this is your chance to connect. To have a conversation. To discover the secrets that each of us keep and the humanity we forget to recognize.
Between Us is a set of three truly unique one-on-one experiences with just you and an actor, created by some of the country's leading immersive theatre artists. Head to a downtown Denver destination to share each other's company and connect in a very real way. Over the course of an hour, you'll inspire the twists and turns your encounter will take, and by the simple act of being yourself, your rendezvous will be unlike any other. Don't miss the once-in-a-lifetime chance to look a story in the face and become a part of it yourself.
Be it by fate or chance, the path of your journey lies in a shuffle. As you have your cards interpreted by a guide, you'll open your eyes to the ways your path has led you to this moment and the events where a single choice could change your future. Bring a small token from your life that you would like to pass on to another audience member at the end of the experience.

“There’s no place like home,” Dorothy said, but in actuality there’s no place like Oz. Combine every fairyland from Narnia to Middle-Earth to Wonderland, and you’d still have only a quarter of Oz’s magic with its yellow brick road, flying monkeys and Great and Powerful Wizard. Now you can visit yourself, courtesy of an exciting production of The Wizard of Oz from Jesters Dinner Theater in Longmont. When a Kansas cyclone carries off young Dorothy and her little dog Toto, the pair land in Oz (and atop a witch). Encountering a Cowardly Lion, a Tin Man and a Scarecrow, they travel the magical countryside searching for the wizard who can make their dreams come true. Join them on their musical journey to the Emerald City during this fun, all-ages event.

Thru Jun 9| Varies | Buell Theatre
Wicked, the Broadway sensation, looks at what happened in the Land of Oz…but from a different angle. Long before Dorothy arrives, there is another young woman, born with emerald-green skin — smart, fiery, misunderstood and possessing an extraordinary talent. When she meets a bubbly blonde who is exceptionally popular, their initial rivalry turns into the unlikeliest of friendships…until the world decides to call one “good,” and the other one “wicked.” From the first electrifying note to the final breathtaking moment, Wicked — the untold true story of the Witches of Oz—transfixes audiences with its wildly inventive story that USA Today cheers is “a complete triumph. An original musical that will make you laugh, cry and think.”

Born and raised in Chesapeake, Virginia, his musical talent became apparent at the age of eleven, after picking up the drums and learning to play the piano by ear. After high school, he went on to earn a percussion performance scholarship and pursued his musical studies at James Madison University, where he received a B.S. in Media Arts and Design in 1997. While still in college, Nate was recruited by the great jazz singer Betty Carter to participate in her esteemed Jazz Ahead program, which has produced an impressive list of alumni including Jason Moran, Cyrus Chestnut, Jacky Terrason, and Casey Benjamin, among many others. After college, he was invited to continue his studies at Virginia Commonwealth University as a member of the Carpenter Fellowship Program. In graduate school he met and performed with the legendary jazz bassist and composer Dave Holland. He continued to perform occasionally with Dave over the next few years, finally joining his GRAMMY-award winning Quintet and Big Band in 2003. In early 2004, he joined saxophonist Chris Potter’s group Chris Potter Underground, and has since recorded three albums with the ensemble. Since then, he has gone on to play or record with an array of fantastic and diverse artists, including: Ravi Coltrane, Jose James, Nicholas Payton, John Pattituci, Adam Rogers, Regina Carter, Mark de Clive-Lowe and Lionel Loueke.
