Bridging the Gap: Technology, Policy, and the Future of Rural Healthcare. Neal Neuberger, Health Tech Strategies



Michael welcomes Neal Neuberger, President of Health Tech Strategies and lead for the National Rural Health Association's Rural Health IT Coalition. Neal addresses the current state of health care in rural US communities, the successes and challenges over the years through technology and regulations, and the "deprioritization" of telehealth.

Deadline Extended to Complete this Important Survey!

WEDI encourages health plans, providers, clearinghouses, and others to complete a 10-minute SURVEY on the CMS Interoperability and Prior Authorization Final Rule (CMS-0057-F). The survey seeks to determine: (i) Progress made on implementation; (ii) Challenges encountered during the implementation process; (iii) Expected implementation costs; and (iv) Resources necessary to assist implementation decisions and efforts.  The survey will close on Feb. 14th. Results from the survey will be used to make recommendations to CMS, inform stakeholders, and assist WEDI as we develop industry guidance and education.

The Office for Civil Rights (OCR) issued a Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (NPRM) to modify the HIPAA Security Rule to strengthen cybersecurity protections for electronic protected health information. The NPRM includes complex and potentially challenging requirements as it seeks to strengthen cybersecurity by updating the current Security Rule and address ever-increasing cybersecurity threats to the health care sector.

Exploring Genomic Data Exchange: A Deep Dive into FHIR Integration and Interoperability. A WEDI Genomics Workgroup Event


THURSDAY, February 27th, 1:00pm - 2:00pm ET

The next WEDI Genomics workgroup session will focus on interoperability in genomic data and will feature key members of GenomeX. 


GenomeX is a sub community under the CodeX FHIR Accelerator with a focus on strengthening and enhancing FHIR Genomics through development of a FHIR Clinical Genomics Implementation Guide and scalable pilots that will demonstrate the value of FHIR in genomics through multiple use cases. Join us as we discuss HL7 and FHIR and the increased interoperability of genomic EHR data and its applicability to clinical decision support tools. Come gain insight into the use of FHIR in this growing industry at the Genomics workgroup session.
