Pacific Northwest (2018) pt.1

In 2018, my better half and I took what was our longest trip so far. In total, after spending a few days in San Diego for a family wedding, we were on the west coast for 18 days. After the wedding we flew to Seattle to begin our adventure loop from there to Vancouver, Olympic National Park, Portland and then back to Seattle. Per usual, we ate great food, saw some incredible views, explored a few major cities, slept in some off the beaten path locations and also fit in a concert before we flew home. The lush colors and the variety of landscapes we were able to experience made for a great trip we will always remember.

Getting this shot took 3 visits to this location until we finally had some good light at sunrise to break through the fog and haze of a recent wildfire. Kudos to my wonderful wife who is willing to visit places multiple times on a trip.

I feel pretty comfortable saying that this is one of my top 5 favorite photos I have ever shot. I don't normally include people in my photos if I can avoid it, but these figures on this beach with the mist and light just makes me so proud of how this image came out.

Ever since we saw the excellent Reese Witherspoon movie Wild, we both wanted to see this bridge. We did not walk this bridge after hiking for months after battling some inner demons like she did, but we drove over it a few times.
