Good Afternoon L&C Students!
My name is Ben Meoz, and I’m this week's guest column writer for The Bark. I serve as the Assistant Dean for Campus Life and Director of Campus Living at the college.
Spring semester is well underway and we hope that you are finding a rhythm with new class schedules alongside the many other communities and endeavors you fit into your busy lives.
In Campus Life so much is already happening this semester, including: (1) Recruiting for New Student Peer Mentors, a combined effort between the Offices of New Student Orientation and First-Year Experience, (2) the renovation of Stewart and Odell Halls making steady progress, (3) the start of a reusable container program with our partners in Bon Appétit, and (4) the recent surge in COVID cases following everyone’s return to campus after break.
All the while we are gearing up for the housing application and assignment process for the 2023–24 academic year. Many of you have reached out to ask for insight into what this year’s timeline and process will look like, so here are some important details we want you all to have:
- Tuesday February 28, is going to be a big day
- 4 p.m. in the Trail Room: A Living Learning Community (LLC) fair with tables for every LLC and raffles. Come learn about all our LLCs and how to apply for 2023–24.
- 5–9 p.m. in 3rd floor meeting rooms in Templeton: Hourly information sessions for on- and off-campus housing. We’ll be sharing updates and answering your questions to ensure you feel as prepared as possible for figuring out your living situation for next year.
- Wednesday, March 1: The 2023–24 housing application opens.
- Sunday, April 2, at 11:59 p.m.: The priority deadline to have your application in and your deposit paid to be considered an “on-time” application.
We’ll be pushing out more information and reminders in the coming weeks, but you can already follow this link to our website for additional important dates and processes (e.g., housing accommodation, LLC application dates). We hope you will come out to talk to us on February 28 during the LLC fair or at one of our hourly information sessions.
And don’t forget, if you are interested in becoming part of the reusable container program taking place in Fields dining you will first need a special carabiner to trade in for a container. Drop by the Campus Living office in Roberts Hall Monday–Friday from 9 a.m.to noon or 1 to 4 p.m. to get signed up!
If you have any questions about the information shared above please don’t hesitate to reach out to me at [email protected]
Sincerely,
Ben
